White Flag of Surrender
There is a flag of Peace that lays each vessel to rest
Signifying the honor with which the gift of life was given
That none may stay the hand that raise this flag in our name
Gives us cause to fight for life every moment that we breathe
Though this battle is one that ultimately cannot be won
Surrender in the end is a gift of Love to The Creator
As Love was the seed that overcame the barren space
Giving birth to the life willfully offered up to death
Surrendering frees the soul to rise up and return
To the One who made Love the heart of what all life is for
Signifying the honor with which the gift of life was given
That none may stay the hand that raise this flag in our name
Gives us cause to fight for life every moment that we breathe
Though this battle is one that ultimately cannot be won
Surrender in the end is a gift of Love to The Creator
As Love was the seed that overcame the barren space
Giving birth to the life willfully offered up to death
Surrendering frees the soul to rise up and return
To the One who made Love the heart of what all life is for

beautifully worded :-)
not sure I agree with the sentiment but that takes nothing away from this deeply reflective piece

That's ok, I'm not sure if I believe it either. I spend a lot of time pondering faith and my mortality, so inevitably I wonder why we are here and what happens after we die. I have an entire chapter of poems about my faith and lack there of in "Seeds and Weeds". Thanks for commenting! JJ

Here's list of the poems in the chapter on faith. They are sprinkled around in my list of poems so it would be easer to search on each poem title than to try and find them scrolling through the pages. jj
(Seeds and Weeds: Chapter 5: Faith: Search Within & Beyond)
Silence of The Lamb
Great Unknown
Pass On True Freedom
A Question Of Faith
Have You Heard?
Distilled Belief
The Weight
Faith In What I Don’t Believe
Invisible Light
This Dream I Dreamt Last Night
The One On My Shoulder - Never Succumb
No End To The Flesh
Unwilling To Let Go
Touch

I love this poem, Poetryman, you wrote it so well. Makes me feel like the flag in the horizon is a lure. Lord take me but not yet...sort of feeling.
