Defenses grow tall
Hurt to many times
Such subtle crimes
Time is said to heal
This holds little appeal
Darkness hovers close by
Like an annoying fly
Light of hope flutters
Dancing about like storm tossed shutters
Wounds driven deep
Finding hard to sleep
Whirlwind of thought
Peace is sought
Yet they swirl around
Listen to night's sound
Behemoths fly overhead
Restless souls lie in bed
Smarting from loves bite
Feels more like a biblical smite
Shattered heart
Too many pieces
Not knowing where to start
Leaving deep crevices
Love isn't worth the effort it seems
All is left is broken dreams
A gaping hole
Where once was a soul
