Enigma Remains
Waking up is hard to do
Within a certain hell
So riding off on Blazing Blue
For how long it's hard to tell
But Enigma's shadow on the wall
Leaves a lipstick trace
Untouched by flames and standing tall
Singing "Amazing Grace."
Within a certain hell

For how long it's hard to tell
But Enigma's shadow on the wall
Leaves a lipstick trace
Untouched by flames and standing tall
Singing "Amazing Grace."

Enigma is actually Enigma Rose, a character I've featured in a few poems. She's unusually tender here.

Thank you, Katja. It might be a little puzzling, but I'm really glad you enjoyed.

Is this metaphor or reality Crowfly? I feel the lines somewhat blurred in this piece?
Riding away sounds like retreat either for sanity's sake or the need to try and escape something currently haunting you.
Enigma sounds like a stable comfort.
Intriguing poem.

Hah! "Enigma sounds like a stable comfort." Great pun given the presence of Blazing Blue. Enigma is Enigma Rose, a character I've featured in a few poems. In this one she's a saving grace. In the others she's utterly lethal. Fortunately not to me. Not much to do with reality here.

this doesn't sound much like the enigma rose that i know, but i'm glad she's tender once in awhile. :)
