Waiting in my car in the rainy parking lot waiting to get my head shrunk
The tinny sound of rainy drives,
splishing, splashing, spraying by
chunks of wet against the last bits of dry
as I sleepily force my eye lids wide.
All the commotion going on outside
is drowning out the morning news,
I'm parked here waiting for the time to fly
so I can share my weekly views.
I watch a bird, a little guy
Braving the distance from that car to mine
He must have missed the annual winds
To float him to the warmer ends
I hope he lives, I hope he survives
I hope he flies before the temperature dives.
Nothing deserves this kind of life,
Shivering in a winter strife.
But he's on his own, I don't know how to help
Just to bitch and moan and complain and yelp
And write it down in a stanza or two
So I guess that's what I'm going to do.
Just. Like. That.
