The Aftermath

People running, screaming, gunshot echoes through the broken city
Smoke filled up the clouds, looking like a sad grey
with the city gone cold, the warmth taken by the forced agony
she looked through the window, all that was happening
not believing what she is seeing, was once her city
her parents hid her, not for the soldiers to find her
sacrificed themselves, to safe their only daughter
she saw them kneeling down on the ground
her father looked up, to see her once more from a distance
just then the soldier pulled the trigger and he laid on the concrete floor
her mother roared
the soldier smiled, getting the satisfaction from killing
then turned the gun on her mother, as she was bawling
her whole family perished, as she was watching them through the window
but then the soldier looked up and saw her
she abruptly run to her hiding place behind the wall
her eyes were red, her mouth was dry, and her throat was sore
she waited for the footsteps, that will come and take her
and then it came, her heart was pounding faster and louder
he started looking around, opening up the closets avid to find her
he was getting closer, knocking on the walls to hear a different sound
In that moment, she had a hitting feeling that her life would be over
she listened for the footsteps and knew it was only one soldier
then she busted the hidden door open and made a run for it
the soldier caught off guard, he struggled to get his gun
but then shot at her but he missed
Stop her! he said, as she was running automatically
not knowing where she was going, but just running to be free
when she got outside and looked around
smelling the perfume of death and gun powder
bodies of the dead kissing the ground
she started assuming that, that might be her future

she heard a dead silence, engulfing her city
ashes coming down as snow, from burning bodies
broken mirrors of buildings and smoke fuming out
she heard a baby cry and then there was no sound
she looked to the left and started running
when she heard soldiers coming
she glanced for a place to hide
and chose by her eyes to go and hide
under the pile of bodies
when she was reaching her hideout
BOOM, and then another shot
the bullets flew to meet their creaseless target
a searing pain overpowered her body

she fell down, with her plans falling with her
her last thought...her mother and father.
