Dip Down Deeper

deep down and deeper
and its a murky depth
full of bad memories
just festering and boiling

at times they seem restless
they snarl and hiss
scratching, clawing
for validation

they scream of punches
and kicks, the prod and stick
a lovely worn leather belt
broken glasses and smashed mouth

the hatred curling
and grasping the head
clenching like vice
choking as if dying

dip down deeper
there is madness there
a cackling ghost
and many skeletons

and a lone child
sits at the corner
clutching her limbless doll
chanting the Lords Prayer
.
