The Colors of the Dark
The tall grass glistens in the night
Growing higher in moonlight
I go and sit beneath the yew
My clothes dampening with midnight dew
The city under fading stars
The muffled fear within the cars
The violence of the urban crowd
The silence found within a shroud
I choose the ruin on high ground
Inside a comfort so profound
I have already made my mark
And now count the colors of the dark.
Growing higher in moonlight
I go and sit beneath the yew
My clothes dampening with midnight dew
The city under fading stars
The muffled fear within the cars
The violence of the urban crowd
The silence found within a shroud
I choose the ruin on high ground
Inside a comfort so profound
I have already made my mark
And now count the colors of the dark.
