Desire, Self-Doubt, and Genetic Capability
There is a checks and balances acted out between the ambitions of a person, his/her doubts, and his/her biological capabilities in order to give him/her success and limit his/her overall long-term discontentment. A person has ambitions, wild and sudden. He cannot have peace until he settles them. When his capabilities are not in line with his goal, he fails and fails until he is deterred finally forever from desiring to accomplish that thing. His increased doubt in self concerning that task forces him to resolve to dispose of that ambition for his own sake. Then, it builds itself high and strong enough to keep him away from all like activities. There is time wasted in this process, but experimentation is the sole process for testing self-potential. It is best to follow a desire to the ends of it where ability and self-doubt shut it off. The positive is that the checks and balances works for efficiency, so that as one experiences more his/her self-potential, less time is wasted. Desire for a thing is spontaneous, but essential to achieve any goal and to formulate that goal. The capabilities are more rigid. They are genetic and can only be stripped from a person by injuring or removing the part of the body that is supposed to display the genetic trait. Self-doubt is the opposite of the ambition. They both are consoled when a man or woman reveals the code of his/her genetics that is reason.
When a man has a desire to do something and his abilities allow him to do so, then his desire to succeed in that thing increases, and his self-doubt is lowered and so he learns to express better and better the code of his genetics. As for prolonged success as I have had with singing, a desire might be great, then fall, then rise again later when it can be more effectively pursued. Maybe it had to do with genetics as well. My father is a musician. I wrote my own lyrics for years, so the desire was always present, still many times suppressed due to my failure and consequently self-doubt so that I could be at peace in the past. So follow a desire where it takes you. It may take you to the edge of a cliff, so that you must abandon it, then suddenly reappear when you have found a bridge. But this is only speculation.
