Had this one sitting around for a while...

I fought so hard to become this desirable shell.
Painted perfect face,
Stripped all the real from my hair,
Dress to impress,
Laugh along with empty, well off people.
Kill myself slowly with top shelf.
Blend but stand out.
Get paid to break hearts.
One bad relationship did me in.
Vowed never to trust a man again.
But with Independence comes consequence.
I know this... Always have.
I've built my shell that I so badly wanted, but I've caged myself.
The real world has been seen and shattered my old innocent thinking.
Oh how I wish I could go back to a simpler time, when I made wishes on stars and dandelions, longed for a soulmate, and dreamed of doing something great for this world.
