Prostrated

on clay feet
tumbled on the church floor
where thousands were before
praying to God
to do another Lazarus

she inhaled the sweat
of many tears
almost felt the desperation
of many mothers and widows
clawing dusts for mercy

tears mingling with dusts
of many unheeded kisses
shadowed by rites and liturgies
chanted for centuries
gone on most unanswered

they slaugthered her sons
crucified them in His Name
Kyrie eleison, Kyrie eleison
her sons blood scream for mercy
heaven was silent

agony in thoughts flashing past
Pazuzu screaming in the desert
the children of the sword
floods the sands with blood
of the Nazarene's subjects

their blood cried out for justice
Mothers prostrated on floors
weeping up pleas for mercy
and divine deliverance
Heaven was quiet

the pearly gates is now open
no angelic trumpets
welcome the martyrs.
