Mother

This woman was troubled throughout her life.
She went to school and married young
but the connection wasn't right.

There was a child, I was told.
He didn't live past his birth.
She never said his name,
or of him, another word.

She found an interested man
that enjoyed much younger women.
The dollar signs glowed in her mind
and so she had to have him.

A daughter soon was born
and the union now was three.
The new man was a happy soul
with his family.

Soon this man would pass away
leaving the daughter and mother o.k.
Obedient mother, dramatically changed
into anger with danger each passing day.

At 15 , this girl moved out of the house,
unprepared, to face what life's about.
She could have, simply,  just remained,
as her mothers scapegoat for everything.

Unlucky? It could be this.
Stuck in a winter of blizzard snow,
learning can be so painfully slow.
It has taken a lifetime to let her go.

I do not blame her anymore.
She knows not who I am.
