Marilyn died for our sins
in her own words, & out of grace more so than glamour,
she revealed that her sinning did not make her a devil,
& her not sinning did not make her an angel.
she began as a small spark, & worked very hard to grow
to a candle flame; but there were moments when she was
lightning, & the stars took notice.
earth-bound angel, fashioned for wet dreams, blonde & blue.
flamboyant temptress – within her beat the heart of lonely
Norma Jean, who begged to be loved. but a man can’t hold
the delicate things, nor make captive of such beauty.
in darkened theatres, a pearlescent screen assured us that
some like it hot. it defined us, among common ball-players
& princes of fleeting royalty. she was reduced to an object,
of lust that warmed our sullen nights.
but the world was too boisterous,
& the joy she longed for, too elusive –
she could not stay.
we didn’t love her enough…

“Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.” ― Marilyn Monroe
I have that quote on my profile page ... She was brilliant in so many ways.
This is a wonderful ode to that "candle in the wind"

Her soft voice and warm disposition is truly an epic lose to the world as we know it. She was touched by corruptions ugly hands. I love this tribute to her, she is one of my most favorite iconic stars. We are still touched by her as the silvery screen replays the masterpieces. 'some like it hot is a great one!! And this poem softens her smile on you.

JohnFeddeler, luv :-* ~
Marilyn Monroe, the darling. There are women one cannot get out of one's head and she is one such, is she not? Truly, you have done a fine tribute for her, luv. :-*
Whenever I think of Marilyn, I also think of her friend and counterpart, Dorothy Dandridge, and the eerie parallels of their lives...
You are so right about the unthinking maltreatment of the world to those so adored...

It is near impossible to write about her in a way that does not sound redundant since it has been a topic of interest and inspiration for so long
BUT, you pulled it off nicely
this piece seems larger than what it is on the surface because it is easily an ode to all of those who are objectified and loved while simultaneously being ignored and misunderstood..loved in a demented and psychotic way that can deteriorate the inner self.
A wonderful tribute to Norma Jean
shine on!
