You want me to get a GED,
and you want me to have a job..

I can debate about these two forever!
But I have a choice story written in mind,
That I'll share to you, my parents, so maybe you'll
understand me better,
perspective of mine..

You've heard my word within before,
And your feedback sounds as if I'm fantasy
With those "that's all fine and dandy, BUT" impressions..

You say "times have changed",
Yes, I can see, But,
What you want with me,
Is simiplicty at my age in your days.
And is now a tragic complexity I face.
So yes, "times have changed"..

Racial schisms are not here, as what they were.
This native land is not in which it was.
There was a time there was no china wall.
The moon and sun transitted around us.
Religion was the only answer..

We're in a different time now, like you say.
Don't expect this entire generation to flow the same way.
I'm not one of those; "Kids these days"..
I can seek within the past and find myself.
Times have changed, but my breed of soul lives on.

I'm not a new age kid meshing with the current.
I'm not the hung over no mood pot head.
I'm not the hot topic, and I'm not the tween with a t-shirt of the radio star.

There's something here parents in which you've spawn unique.
As a son, what better gift can I give than me portraying
all that is inside me.
I manifest all I can be, though you may not fully understand,
You seem to me at some degree value my inner being.
Yet you still question my sense of direction..

I'm not sure if I'm on point with you, and maybe this is fantasy.
But I'm a dream child, this is my reality.

Times have changed, but I'm from the past.
Searching for your memories which no longer here last..
This is a difficult task, in which personally I handle differently.

As you know, my sense of being original, I don't have any mentors
As you know, they're not me, so curse me for having a vision,
cause among others compared to I, we all see things differently..

All I ask is to persist the given time and we'll see if I can bring the dreams to this life
Yes, simply times have changed, my goal here is to keep them the same. - AtR
