I think we've all done that a time or two. Well penned, Paul S. . .Devlin.

Won the battle but lost the war? Definitely been there. I like how this piece is short and bittersweet, with the statement ending as both a statement and a question.

Sadly--
"to the 'victor'
belongs
the 's p o i l s' "....??
(but that's just it--more like 'spoil-(ed)' spoils....as in most 'wars',the true 'casualties' are seldom worth the strife...)
Can feel the power, and pain, of your pen!

Losing while winning ... I've had that happen at the racetrack all to often ... A $15 bet that pays $10 on the win ... It really sucks when your heart is involved.
