You forced me to look
Outside of myself
To the beachside town
I'm reluctant to call home
In every moment there is
Something to see
Something to feel
Something worth writing about
As long as I remember
To keep my eyes open
I'm too often guilty
Of endless navel gazing
Looking for answers
And a sense of the divine
Not found within my own skin
I'm an ungrateful dreamer
Forgetting this present
Will turn to past
And all that is done today
Cannot be unchanged tomorrow
It is too easy to be overwhelmed
A woman drowning close to shore
Searching the horizon for freedom
Instead of making footholds in sand
Where my life is waiting
To be lived right now
