Angels Of War

War...

It seems to be every where today
TV, newspapers, radio's and Facebook,
From Iraq, Afghanistan,
Its all brought to our attention,
These shocking stories of war
Stained in blood and gore

Soldiers stand to attention,
Then go marching off to war
Guns raised,
Flags flying high
With a heavy mix of fear and courage,
Filling their loyal hearts

With guns and knife's,
Fists' and fierceness,
They fight
For their countries

Mothers and sons,
Fathers and daughters,
Brothers, sisters, uncles and aunts,
All march to the rhythm of war

Pain and death all around
Victory,
Not guaranteed
My fallen brothers,
My fallen sisters,
Your sad deaths,
Never in vain

For every brave soldier,
For all those fallen casualties of war
For every survivor,
Who lived to fight once more
Head-weary and heart-sore

I don't believe in God
But if anyone deserves angels,
It's you guys
And if you have none,
Well then...
Take mine.

For every soldier killed in battle, for every victim and casualty of war, I pray that you all rest in peace.
