To Every Feisty Lady Out There
As a child, as a teen, as an adult
Strong women
Have always inspired me.
Being a son, being a brother, being a man
Lacking privilege and power.
I have been able to comprehend
The effects of social inequalities.
Most people Ignore or accept
The roles they are negated to play.
But then there are those individuals
Who take it upon themselves
To challenge the status quo
From Joan of Arc's French revolt,
To Rosa Parks refusing to stand up,
To Naomi Wolf's "Beauty Myth",
Feminine personalities
Have combatted against
Social norms and social taboos
To help foster a chain reaction
Which I hope never ends.
I find these woman to make me
Overflow with inspiration.
And I hope one day
I have a daughter
Who feels the same way.
