Game Of Pain
None of them love me
None mean what they say
I notice it when they hug me
The way they smile and walk away
But I never treat them badly
Stupidly I lay low cool
Pretending not to know what's happening
Always ready to play the fool
And I can take all their shit
As long as I have what I want
Understanding makes friendship
Like water to a plant
Yet they won't play it straight
They nurse their own secret games
On mine they concentrate
Provoked they call me names
Do I ask who they see or be with?
When they are not around me
Will that be jealousy? Far be it
That I worry over a friend with benefit
Away they satisfy their selfish urge
I let it go unnoticed
When they come to me they sing love
Like I was a complete novice
In this game of pain
I can't exempt myself from blame
But my only problem if I have any
Is that I keep so many
So I circumspect
Facing this obvious truth
As I sip from my glass gently
To keep from being overwhelmed with guilt
None mean what they say
I notice it when they hug me
The way they smile and walk away
But I never treat them badly
Stupidly I lay low cool
Pretending not to know what's happening
Always ready to play the fool
And I can take all their shit
As long as I have what I want
Understanding makes friendship
Like water to a plant
Yet they won't play it straight
They nurse their own secret games
On mine they concentrate
Provoked they call me names
Do I ask who they see or be with?
When they are not around me
Will that be jealousy? Far be it
That I worry over a friend with benefit
Away they satisfy their selfish urge
I let it go unnoticed
When they come to me they sing love
Like I was a complete novice
In this game of pain
I can't exempt myself from blame
But my only problem if I have any
Is that I keep so many
So I circumspect
Facing this obvious truth
As I sip from my glass gently
To keep from being overwhelmed with guilt
