Digging graves in memories
I'm laying here in this empty room
dust on all the picture frames
memories swallowing me whole.
Echoes blow through cracked windows
like a desolate lonely scream
The wind always sounds so desperate
for a heart to take shelter in.
Leaves outside rustle uneasily
against the heavens tears
No life lives upon those fragile
branches
after years of love being denied
I breathe but only for today
sadly there's no glimpse of hope for
tomorrow
For this storm is only growing in anger
and this sheetless bed is a comfortable
grave.

great poem. nice wording. i like the part in the begining
"I'm laying here in this empty room
dust on all the picture frames
memories swallowing me whole."
i understand how it feels looking back on mimories that seem like a pastlife from someone more happier than you are at the moment and its easy to get swallowed up by dwelling on the past. but its not about remembering good times its about creating them. "Theodore Rosevelt once said "To dwell on the past would be both weak and morbid" i now understand how true this statement is. again good work

Your last line was the perfect cherry to top off this treat. Well crafted. Carry on.
