Breathing the October Sky

I pulled the blankets
over me
just a little to stay
snug and warm
to breathe in the silence
of the stars
hearing the nature of
nights' sounds
ensnaring my senses
to listen carefully
In this orchestrated
symphony of the night
the coolness
of a lingering fog
settled lightly
upon my skin
seasoning its
presence thin
breathing the
October sky
