The Tree of Life
There’s no other tree I see
so mighty as a coconut tree
It’s trunk so slender and so high
it could almost reach the sky
Some people consider it lovely
Its beauty competes with the sea
How I miss your sweet juice (coconut)
that quenches my thirst on summer days
and relieve my hangover
from drinking “fool-proof rum”
How I miss your tender white meat (coconut)
that nourishes my starving body
So delicate as Snow White’s skin,
which soothes and eases my pain
There’s no other tree I see
so useful as a coconut tree
From its leaves so supple,
which dance with the passing wind
to its trunk so sturdy and tall,
which stands the test of time
down to its roots so mighty and strong,
which can cure my weary soul
Some people say it has a thousand uses
from culinary to non-culinary
I say the possibilities are endless
beyond our wildest imaginations
They don’t call it for nothing:
The Tree of Life – Coconut!
