Pirate Lighter
I've got this pirate lighter,
take it with me everywhere.
It's my superstition,
it's my lucky underwear.
it gets me where I'm going
or at least it gets me stoned.
so I can fall asleep
nights I feel most alone.
one time I thought I lost it
I lent it to a friend
a day later in a hotel room,
it made it's way to me again.
I'm not saying it's got power
or it's made a damn difference,
but if you tried to take it
I'd fight you tooth and nail.
Everybody needs something
that they can call God.
It's not about religion
but something to hold on.
Something to believe in,
or just something to have.
anything to believe
maybe it's not so bad.
I've got this girl that I know,
take her with me everywhere.
She's my superstition,
she's my lucky underwear.
She get's me where I'm going
or at least we'll get stoned
so that we can laugh
on nights we feel most alone.
one time I thought I lost her
we said we weren't friends
a year later in another town
I made my way to her again.
Everybody needs something
that they can call God.
It's not about religion
but something to hold on.
Something to believe in,
or just something to have.
anything to believe
maybe it's not so bad.
I think a cross might burn me,
a church would cast me out.
I picked the apple
right off the tree
for the knowledge,
but mostly for me.
Everybody needs something
that they can call God.
It's not about religion
but something to hold on.
Something to believe in,
or just something to have.
anything to believe
maybe it's not so bad.
