The Final Symphony
We all stopped to look and listen
as the dark sky turned white and
resonated a serene angelic melody.
But all stillness was blown
by a single strange roaring thunder!
Emerged from the mist of burning snow,
a dark light guided an army of starving ogres.
Their watering mouths growling, howling;
their evil reddish eyes hunting for my kind.
We all ran for our lives and hid ourselves
behind the remnants of our wrecked vessel.
The echoes of the screams and cries
of my beloved people after the blast -
created by that huge unidentified ship -
abruptly stopped with fear of being seen.
I can hear my heartbeat.
I had to be strong but courage
was wiped away by their eerie shrieks
as they tramped to search for us.
Trembling and gasping in terror, I closed my eyes.
It all faded but just for a while.
Like employing the whistling wind as its refrain,
the vile music continued.
It’s chorus-
the screeches of my people
devoured one by one by them,
beasts from the other side.
I knelt and prayed…
as the dark sky turned white and
resonated a serene angelic melody.
