Image for the poem I Wish for Silence

I Wish for Silence

Broken spirit and iron bones.

Heart caged in solid stone.

Eyes with a shield of blue.

Behind lies gray from memories of who knows who.

Voices screaming down the halls.

Dark places that I call home.

Faces with many expressions but not a single word.

Honey voice that left me no choice.

I wish for silence day and night.

Sew velvet lips together that soon turn cold.

Ignorant girls saying how it ought to be.

Stupid boys who think they're king.

Numbers falling from the sky.

Out my mouth came a grim surprise.

I wish for silence, this is my last request.

Before I bring a needle to your lips.
