Why I am not such a writer
I want to be a writer but cannot find the words.
Buzzing swarming elemental mess
flying round my head and in my heart
But trying to pin them on the page,
Well, lets just say
Its like trying to shout dragons out of the sky
while the world walks by with headphones on
carrying some mocha cappa frappa bean-beast.
While my land is filled more with cyborgs
drinking tea wearing monocles and proclaiming huzzah
Where humanity is diverse and unified
Where the wild punks roam and rub shoulders
with steam punk knights.
But writers seem to catch the zeitgeist train early,
And catch the modern masses feeling in jars
Thus writing for themselves and then many.
But I am no writer, I write for myself
Maybe one day someone will have tea with words and me...
Buzzing swarming elemental mess
flying round my head and in my heart
But trying to pin them on the page,
Well, lets just say
Its like trying to shout dragons out of the sky
while the world walks by with headphones on
carrying some mocha cappa frappa bean-beast.

But writers seem to catch the zeitgeist train early,
And catch the modern masses feeling in jars
Thus writing for themselves and then many.
But I am no writer, I write for myself
Maybe one day someone will have tea with words and me...

Ye Gods, didn't I just post this? I am flattered that someone would read and comment on it so quickly. It is not humility if it is true, plus I just wanted to do the opposite of Gemini's competition. Thanks for reading.

Walking mind time? I like the sound of that. Words far from the dusty crowd of statues that move in your head while you move. Milk or no milk?

Its good to write when you have something to say and not because you can. Or have to, as some people profess.

Often what I have to say is along the lines of being the anti of what others have already said.

Ooh, really like this part:
"Its like trying to shout dragons out of the sky
while the world walks by with headphones on
carrying some mocha cappa fropa bean-beast.
While my land is filled more with cyborgs
drinking tea wearing monocles and proclaiming huzzah
Where humanity is diverse and unified
Where the wild punks roam and rub shoulders
with steam punk knights."
Enjoyed this. An elemental truth in my book - write for yourself, what do the masses know anyway?

That part is a mix between playing Skyrim too much and my distaste for coffee and the contagion spreading speed they seem to have. Whereas tea is much more an empire thing; a drin kof yesteryear, coffee is today and the materialism without thought for tomorrow.

I like the tone- a bit flippant, throw-away on the surface-but serious and acutely observed below. The last three lines of the first stanza and the second catch it concisely and perfectly.

The flippant tone kind of sum up my feeling of wanting perfect words but having to settle with other words instead. I still don't quite know how some writing can become popular while other bits flounder and go unnoticed.

Such a shame people aren't thirsty enough, thought that quote was by Harvey Milk. "Ill fares the race which fails to salute the arts with the reverence and delight which are their due"- Winston Churchill. Um.. cup or mug?

I only know of Milk from Dead Kennedys writes and the scraps-contained from jello-speak-sigh...yes Churchgoers-he had the gift of quip-i'll wear the cup if need be but a mug I shall see please.

Then you shall have a muc, you mug, thank you for flying church of england etc etc. But to wear a cup? Surely you need the feminine protrusions to wear a couple of cups, and they'll be far too uncomfortable for the nether regions of a male...

awesome bro! truly awesome!
i can always convert everyone of your poems into images and WATCH(not read) them like a slideshow.
"But I am no writer, I write for myself
Maybe one day someone will have tea with words and me..."
I'm a tea drinker and i myself can never do that. i find it quite hard to walk outside my head. but, that first line is absolute truth.

Its better to have a world in your head than have one rampaging and raping across the world, plus gives friends a guests a place to stay.

I always look forward to your entries in my updates. This was not a disappointment. Thank you.
There is one thing I wonder about though. This line:
carrying some mocha cappa fropa bean-beast.
If you are referring to coffee I think it would be "frappa".

Is it frappa? I am surprised I actually got any part of it right. The change will be done though, much more sarcasm served with it then.

Viddax,
have to agree with atakti's favorite lines and the Madmans 'looking forward' comment
what you have here, is something very poetic, the fact that it's semi hidden beneath a kind of denial makes it that bit better.
fair play man, shine on

I am glad that some of my self-loathing can actually make an interesting read and be poetic. I shall embrace my identity and write a more positive poem next, when up to it that is.
