Easier Said Than Done

I told you I'd leave you alone
I guess that's easier said than done
Because I still have things to say
Things that seem to weigh a ton

I'd like to start with an apology
From the bottom of my heart
I'm happy for you, I truly am
Even if it means we are apart

For once this is not a trick
This is not some mind game
I just feel terrible about what I did
And need to alleviate the shame

Now I can't say I'm not jealous
Who wouldn't be?
And I can't say I'm not bitter
Still I hope that you'll forgive me

It was wrong of me to guilt you
After how nice you've always been
You gave me purpose for a while
And that doesn't go unseen

I'm not delusional enough to think
That things will be the same
The time may have passed
But I'm thankful it even came

This poem is written more for me
Than it is for you
Closure is the thing I crave
So forgive me? I swear I'm being true
