Cooking with friends

I cracked open

windows

adding much

needed depth

to my kitchen

somewhere

off in the distance

I heard tinkling

as a beer cap skipped

torn off

latent with savored desire



I let the Merlot breathe...

this fine air, wafting

as silken threads wrap

perfect weaves of cozy

blanketing the land



three pounds of jumbo prawn

lay prepped, waiting

upon a counter, cultured

enough to be cleaned, free

the cluttered debris

clicking a disc behind me

blow by blow hammers

the onion, smashed to bits

for the sake of polite conversation

forever, flying in a blue dream waits

upon wings of later taste

pouring a glass of seventy-four

I think back, to killers

of this time, when kiss

was bliss as honeyed destroyer

these things will be till the death of me



A pan with garlic...wets with the onion

salt and varied coloured pepper

dash between the heated two

chunks of pineapple are thrown

within

chopped thick and meaty

by a steely knave

A Shar-pei whimpers

as I tend my friend

for the canine flows

with Her nature

strong as the mightiest

river, if not heeded,

its warnings, to whom

Returning from venture

a pan sizzles with decadence

as prawn jump in

as if freed once again,

no chance

they are held,confined

to swim in the juices

of added pineapple liquid

the silkiest white cheddar

is cut thick, while on heel

the shar-pei begs

handing over the pains

of labour, a tail wags

cheddar falls, lumbering

graciously

into pan, into mouths

juices steam, bubble and pop

as crushed red pepper

sprinkles like stardust

accentuating dreams

of a sated hunger

wine flows, as senses perk

prawns opaque, glisten

awaiting plated display

a man smiles and holds

his glass high, to another
