POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Number 3 Concerning London.
Third in a little series on London.
Cool breezes blow through cornfields and orchards:
Gently buffeting leaves and buds on branches,
Scattering seeds,
Spreading blossoms.
Trees flex in the wind and ears sway,
Appreciating the winds touch,
Revelling in a break from the still air.
Cool breezes blow through the city streets,
Reflect off walls,
Are divided by buildings corner’s,
And channelled into harassing torrents.
Stiff trees resist and their bows are broken.
Neatly planted Ewes along neatly planted verges spit white splinters....

Embankment
Number 1 of a series on London...
I sit beside a shallow pool,
And watch the midges dance erratically across its surface.
Nothing else lives here.
The promise of lilies has not been delivered
-Or perhaps it is too early or too late for them to bloom?-
The smell of stagnant water mixes with the neatly cut grass,
And the flowers,
And the traffic running behind the hedge.
Children play their games together across the path,
Laughing, joking, and singing.
“KEEP OFF THE GRASS”
Neatly painted signs keep watch,
Lined up uniformly along...
