POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
"The limits of my language mean the limits of my world." (L.Wittgenstein) I try to shift them in writing. Any questions? Just ask.
Gladiator tranquillus
Noli audere me oppugnare,
vincere non potes,
nam tempus mecum est.
---------------------------
Don't you dare to combat me,
you can't win
for time is on my side.
vincere non potes,
nam tempus mecum est.
---------------------------
Don't you dare to combat me,
you can't win
for time is on my side.

My metaphoric fridge
Do you like fresh food -
uneaten yet? Have I read
all those books? No way!

Do-it-yourself epitaph
Here lies .......
whose tongue was sharper than a sword.
Now the dependents exult -
henceforth it's their turn to speak...
-------------------
Hic iacet ...
cuius verba acriora erant gladio,
nunc superstites exsultant,
tandem eis licet loqui...

Winter blues
Hiemem ineuntem fugere volo
ad litora Graeciae amoena
Mare Aegaeum spectare desidero
et vestigia, quae relinquam in arena.
----
I want to flee from the winter
to the lovely shores of Greece,
to look at the Aegean Sea I desire
and the footprints I'll leave in the sand.

Finis terrae
On your Sunday afternoon walk
you reach the turning point
but like on
St. James's Trail
Santiago is not the end.
Keep on walking
to Cape Finisterre
wondering what may lie behind
on the pilgrimage of life.
Be courageous!
Go far beyond this point!

Living room - extended version
Ten past six a.m.
having breakfast
with people never invited
coffee in my left hand, croissant in my right
the train is arriving at
platform 6

Non-Venetian Journey
Daydreaming at dawn
the campanile is passing by
time to change over
dropping into my favourite bar
for a quick caffè doppio
then heading further south
the Arsenale is waiting for me
gondolas lurking far beyond but
I have to get off the commuter train
the campanile is passing by

then heading further south
the Arsenale is waiting for me
gondolas lurking far beyond but
I have to get off the commuter train

Constellations
From the Big Dipper
to your radiant Southern Cross -
how many light years
to go for one's love
making virtuality
come true by a kiss.
