She is there
It's like being touched by God
Her wings expand and reached
Enclose around you

Feelings of calm enriched

Antique
Temples turning grey
Elastic waisted slacks
Slip on shoes
I've come a long way
Widowed at 29
No children, grandkids
Or legacy to bestow
Alone I will decline
Parents ashes at rest
In my antique cabinet
Gifted by grandma
As part of her bequest
In that old antique cabinet
next to mom and dad
my urn will sit
Tradition for family that passed
Ceased by the government
Auctioned for sale
Displayed like ornaments
Treated as insignificant
Bang! "Sold!"
RIP no more ...
Elastic waisted slacks
Slip on shoes
I've come a long way
Widowed at 29
No children, grandkids

Respectfully silent
She never denied
Gilded is her heart
Wishful of others
Protecting a secret
A passion for art
In another lifetime
The phrases before
Perhaps are all true
Perceptions can consume
Maturing we change
From spring to fall
Growing with help; and
Crystal droplets of rain

In exchange for your soul
You took the life of another
The price was twenty-five years
With no chance of parole
Conditionally set free
A monster let loose
Devil's contract arrears
Your victims living in fear
Looking over my shoulder
Checking my rearview mirror
Aware of my surroundings
Conscious dread of my stalker
Barely fifteen when we first met
My first love; first time
Promises of forever broken
My first black eye; first time I left
I believed him; never would he hurt me again
Until...
You took the life of another

I love you " was always said
As he kissed me goodnight
Tucking me tightly in bed
As he turned out the light
He bought my very first car
Treated me like a princess
Hated my first boyfriend on sight
Knowing he wouldn't go far
Before walking me down the Isle
Looking at me he said
"You don't have to really do this "
Tearful, under my veil, I smile
By my side he stood
At my husband's grave
Keeping a brave face
Offering comfort
He didn't say a word or complain
We knew he was ill ...

Don't leave
Mommy
Stay home
Pretty please
Pleading, I beg in tears
I stand clutching the door nobb
Wishful my plight will work
She'll stop and ease my fears
She searches in her purse
Pulling out five coins
Holding out her hand
"Pick only two" she says
Being the age of six
I chose the largest coins
A nickel and quarter
"Next time make better picks"
As I looked at the silver
In the palm of my hand
She walked past me
"Enough! Stop being such a whiner! "
