Survival
Some might say it is as easy as taking
breaths, but nothing can prepare
you for the unexpected uncertainty.
You think you are okay and making
progress, but then through the stair
Step crack you lose your harmony.
Suddenly you are crashing through
glass and somehow you have to

Going to Paradise
Let your mind and body travel to
A far away land where no one but
You knows your name. Let the blue
Skies carry you - forgetting the rut
You trudged through for days and
Months. You deserve a break from
The real world with some paradise
Between your fingertips.

More Than Strangers
Maybe this is all just a nightmare,
On repeat, but I cannot help it
With the way he always stares
At me like he knows we fit
So perfectly together. Maybe
We knew each other from some
Other life, but in this one he
Is some stranger with his thumb
On the control button. We both
Admit to having chemistry no one
Could understand. I made an oath
And an absolute promise to never run
Away from all the feelings I would
Always keep bottled up. Maybe in
This life he knows what we could
Have had and the road we have been ...

Surviving the Darkness
Let me save you, but I was already too far
Gone and in depression’s murky depths
I was not worth saving. Darkness is a scar
That would not heal as I tried to take steps
Forward and into the light where I would
Feel like a new person, but heavy chains
Kept dragging me backwards. I should
Have fought harder to release the rain’s
Anguish and let it pull me higher instead of
Giving up completely, but I let it crush my
Spirits and hope. Let me cherish and love
You unconditionally, the girl and butterfly

Earth's Beauty
I see the earth as what it will always be -
a luscious world filled with possibility
and light. Through the shadows I see
hope. Though life is shaky the stability
of the earth is what keeps us all alive
and on the sharp edges we still thrive.

Magical Love
You know I would follow you to the end of
this earth. I would show you that love
never dies, even when we take our last
breaths and while the world goes fast

Unreciprocated Love
I looked at you from afar but you never
Returned my gaze. I wanted to run my
Fingers through your hair, hoping you
You would return my love, but you send
It right back, unopened. You are clever.
You are holding back the tears you cry
Because he does not treat you like I do.
He never saw you like I did on the mend
And always willing to forgive. You see us
As nothing but friends. But I have always
Felt something more. I am too afraid to tell
You how I truly feel because you will run
To the hills. He may never fight or fuss ...

Love That Runs Deep
Will you love me when I am all sober?
Because around others I feel a little
Hazy on the inside. As the party is over
Will you love my edges that are brittle?
Dive deep, my dear and you will find love
That is taller than any mountain you can
Climb and deeper than the ocean. A dove
Could fly you home, but you can never fan
Or extinguish the flames that get you one
Step closer to the embers you see in my
Heart. Some might say you chase the sun,
But you also chase the clouds that cry
And have you on the cliff’s ledge....
Because around others I feel a little

Through sleepy eyes

There Goes My Heart
Pitter patter
goes my heart
every time I see you.
Take what belongs
to you - the heart
moving with
every breath
and word spoken
So eloquently.
All I yearned for
was simplicity
and easiness.
The heart never
loses its shape
nor its color
as it never stops
its birdlike or drum
like consistency.

path to freedom.
