Ok so I got into poetry a few years ago during a depression. I have gotten a lot of inspiration from one of my favorite bands, Rise Against. I am open to criticism, and would love advice on how to make my poems better.

The Leader of the Pack
Wild and free
To lead on the pack
Ever on forward
Never looking back
Point on a hill
The wall of the storm
When happen we're around
The world becomes torn
The leader in front
The one who's in charge
The one with the courage
Who now is at large
Barking out orders
Keeping all safe
Providing for us
And taking all hate
I wish I was like her
So free to just go
Yet all that I do
Is put on a show
To seem like I'm one
Who has all control
Even though really
My words are dull
Sharp and concise...

Stand out in a crowd

To be cloaked in a shroud
Call me names will you

The more you talk

If you like what I do
It's not my life goal
To be pleasing you

I do what I want

Relief
The distance can separate
All that it wants
And the time between visits
Maybe will haunt
But trust me my dear
It is all right
There is no need
To put up a fight
I loved you when here

The boundaries this world
Has set upon us
To be with you always

Do not cry please do not hate
For what has happened due to fate
I know it's hard and always will be
But please truly look and see
That we are stronger than the space
And look to when we leave this place
Of agony we are living through
Because all I need is you
But if you feel you can't go on
And you feel like you're a pawn
Just look up and you will see
That you and I were meant to be

This life's getting harder to live
No one around and no one to give
Any advice on what is right
So all I do is try to fight
I know I can't keep moving in
And it's harder to get along

I Dance on a String
I dance on a string
And am fully controlled
A puppet who does
Why by master is told
It seems there's no freedom
Left here for me
As I'm put on display
For whole world to see
Making in through life
Day in and day out
Not able to say a word
Unable to shout
To scream at the master
For treatment so cruel
For in the world I live
His word is rule
And those who shall break it
Or spit in his face
Will no longer be here
Completely erased
From the face of the earth
Not left here at all

In My Heart and In My Arms
In my heart always
My baby shall be
Even though mostly
I cannot see
Or feel her beside me
Or here in my arms
But I know that she's never
In any harm
But heartache and longing
To hold me by close
As I whisper softly
And be the home host
And keep her safe always

To force darkness through
And send it to past

I lost it the day I met you
But I didn't see it then
And now i know I want you
To always be my friend
I didn't truly know
What it meant to live
But now that I have met you
I see what you can give
