POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I write stuff about other stuff. I have a muse called Crave who fucking hates me. When I want to get inspired, I stop taking my pills. I hate every one of my friends and occasionally lose my handwriting. I'm also Scottish.
Depreciation
It's one forty-six, and I'm still here.
What pushed me to this place? Memory, I suppose. Primal and urgent,
within a cycle of misery I've found light in these late nights,
these pockets of time going cheap, a little extra for little cost
- My health, I suppose, to number one, but what's it worth to me?
Already, the white is freckled with shadows.
Already, in every frame before me, a phantom face, the same, flicks and fades,
and though the chemicals in my veins push sleep into the fore of my mind,
I force my eyes open, my focus on something stimulating....

He Was In Love
Every drop shed
Tear, blood, foetus,
He was in love
Every broken bone
Or eye or skin or heart
He was in love
Every weapon used
Metal and wood and fists
He was in love
Even when it's too late
She's on the floor, pale hands reaching out
Heart stopped, light gone
He didn't mean it, really
Couldn't control it
She brought it on
He was in love.

What Love Isn't
Love
Makes you do crazy things
Makes you redefine your idea of beauty
Makes you smile and cry
Makes you relinquish your beloved to another
To make them happy
Love
Makes you drop everything for a smile
Makes you talk nonsense
Makes you think about the future
Makes you one half of a whole
That only that other can complete
Love
Makes your heart melt
Makes your head spin
Makes your soul light up
Makes your body shake
With countless causes
Love
Doesn't make you angry
Doesn't make you jealous
Doesn't...

And
And the cracks get thicker day by day
The lines trace a pattern
Of familiar decay
Widening to chip the edges away
The words leak through like oil
Slipping down the walls
Fuck knows what they're spelling
I can't translate their
Pointless ramblings
Red, like paint, too thick for
Blood
Or water
Cracked open like a snail's shell
There aren't secrets inside
Only chaos and
That one person trapped in the wall, fingernail marks tracked the days
Back then
Until
The seams split open
Threads and nets too thin to cut
Don't...

Sore Places
She lies
Opened up like a flower
A tapestry of a million pieces,
Mechanisms that kept her waking
They're still now
The birds surround
The sweet, metallic taste of her life in the air
They tell me how I love to watch
How I love
The spotlight thumps
Onto the steel table
The halves of her lie open
She was smiling before
I tell them how I can put her together
Because I can
If I just hold the edges of skin together long enough
She'll wake up
Please don't leave me
I can't do this alone
Please
I can fix it...

Acedia
I give up.
There's no point anymore.
Nobody cares, and nobody should.
Without a word, without a face, the people go
Their backs are expression enough that I'm not welcome here
anymore.
Should I just try harder?
Go on when nothing is ever done?
Here, now, I know this feeling will only get
harder.
Done am I, I will never
Get any fucking happier than this.
Never
This is utterly pointless.
Pointless.

A Clicking Tock
A night, again, in waking sleep,
Unuttered words that write the wall
From depths of darkness figures creep
Beneath the million fathom fall
Unspeakable the dreams that fright
The squinted eyes belie the wake
Beneath the sheets to flee the fight
And unformed lies the voices make
A promise, bargain, deal to death
Felled on ears that will deny
Ushered to betray in breath
The truth that sleep is but a lie
In the day's too honest light
The facts that once obscured are bare
The fears evaded in the night

Aqua Desgracia
Among the vastness of the sapphireplanes
Quietly lamenting infinitepains
Unseen, one tear that sea contains
Alone was born the fallen beauty
Despondent in her murderous duty
Enigmatic allure belies her cruelty
Sweeps another ship across thesea
Gliding by incautiously
Raising the waves upon the maidenunfree
A signal, unnoticed, of danger arising
Cold in heart, herself despising
Infinite sorrow of her own devising
Alone she strains, the Reina de Muerte, forever unhappy, for the song she must sing

Insomnia - A Prelude to Lethargica
It's so hard
So cruel
This night
Will never end
Another dark world
Stretching on to
Eternity
I've been here before
Night after night after night afternight
And it's never any
Easier
I wait
Forever
I'm always waiting
The creation
That follows
Is not
Enough solace
For the sleepy
State
I suffer
Without respite
Without release
Into that
World
I know awaits me
I'll never
Be free
Of this curse
And a chemical
Release
Is denied me
The strongest
Toxins
Cannot free...

Lethargica
So heavy
So easy
The world vanishes
For just a second
And when itreturns
It's not the same
What happened
In that blink
Is beyond me
I really tried
To stay here
I did
Because every single time
I come back
It's harder and harder and harder and
harder
To come home
It's not always better
Here
But at least
When I see
Those strange things
At least
Here
I know it's not just
Me
There, I gave her
A ring
And another I gave
A kiss
I gave him
A twirl on the ice...
So easy
The world vanishes
For just a second
And when itreturns
It's not the same
What happened
In that blink
Is beyond me
I really tried
To stay here
I did
Because every single time

It's harder and harder and harder and

I've Got You Now
Upon a lonely Autumn night
I spied my prince by artificial light
Our eyes then met, and all was well
His voice, so sweet, said "Go to Hell!"
I laughed it off, assured he jest
And vowed that I would do my best
To win the hand of that valiant prince
By exposing my heart, my love to evince
For many a day, I followed his ways
Learning the patterns of his days
Careful to hide in alley and bush
Awaiting the moment of the ambush
My love, I knew, would fall to my feet
If ever I worked up the courage to meet
Aided,...

One taste, and I'm in purgatory
Neither here nor there, not in Heaven nor Hell,
A cliched, overused allegory,
A taste of poison to make me be well
One taste, and all my thoughts are dead
Resting, peaceful, buried deeply,
Forbidden words are safe unsaid
Foriegn incites cannot breach me
One taste, and the world's soft-edged and sweet,
The sky falls close to bury me gently
Pavement-grey waves sway beneath my feet
As the world tips and trembles so elegantly
One taste, and I cannot help but smile
To speak, and act, and live so freely...
