POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
Poetry is my release.
Jason: The Boy Born From Earth
I thoroughly believe you were born from Earth.
How else does one explain the way grass bows before your feet,
Or the way your fingers command flowers to bloom.
How with a smile the tide comes rushing in,
And with a laugh, a tsunami kisses your ankles.
I have heard orchestras of birds dedicate songs to you.
And ever since the day you opened your eyes,
The sky has fought to be more blue.
Before you go to bed,
Your mother wraps you in a sunset and sends a choir of frogs and crickets to sing you a lullaby.
As soon as you fall...

Through my lips, words powerful enough to start and end wars escape.
They speak wisdom far beyond their years.
But, the only way my lips cross your mind is when you imagine how they feel on your skin.
When you look upon me I am no more than an object.
You look upon the way my clothing hugs my body,
Tighter than any man would,
And you think about the way my body looks in the moonlight.
What you don’t see is the way the sun kisses my skin in the morning.
Or how long it took to have the confidence to wear this dress.
This dress...
They speak wisdom far beyond their years.
But, the only way my lips cross your mind is when you imagine how they feel on your skin.
When you look upon me I am no more than an object.
You look upon the way my clothing hugs my body,

And you think about the way my body looks in the moonlight.

Heartless
I had a heart I wouldn’t let anyone see,
Until you cut me open and took it away from me.
You sewed me back together with a goodbye kiss,
With a hole in my chest,
It’s my heart I miss
Until you cut me open and took it away from me.
You sewed me back together with a goodbye kiss,
With a hole in my chest,
It’s my heart I miss

My fault
Who's to blame other than me?
Yes, you put me here,
But I'm the one who brought my heart to a gun fight.

It's Been a Hard Year
Days all melt together... all the same. I am so sad and I don't know why. It's random... One moment I feel happy and then a switch goes off and all I want to do was crawl into bed. One minute I feel fine, then the next it's like I'm dying. Not even things that once made me happy work anymore. I feel awful, and of course I just tell people, but it's awkward for them, so they don't check up on me. Everyday gets worse. Why is everyone so quick to assume you're better?! I AM NOT BETTER. But no one cares. I am not good enough for anything I love... no one sees any potential... so I must have...

Fools
Fools!
She cursed under her breath as she sewed herself back together.
We all chase a love that we know only exists in the movies.

Fallen Angel
You clipped my wings,
And told me to fly.
The terror it rings,
As I fall from the sky.
And told me to fly.
The terror it rings,
As I fall from the sky.

Deception
A smile cascades across his face.
It comes to him as easy as a breeze on a hot summer day.
He seems content, just listening to me.
He'll make you feel like you're the only person in the world,
Then, once you think he's yours, he'll leave.
Deception plays at his eyes as he's whispering sweet nothings in your ear,
And even though his eyes are beautiful, you are focused on his lips.
He bites one,
A harsh ending to a fluid thought.
He brushes his thumb across your lip,
Making sure you swallowed the words he forced down your...

Trust
You ask me to trust,
But for a fragile thing that's hard to do.
For I am an object of lust,
And a good friend to very few.
But for a fragile thing that's hard to do.
For I am an object of lust,
And a good friend to very few.

Candlestick
So I became a candle,
I set myself on fire every night to light the way for others,
But when I burnt out,
They threw me away.

But when I burnt out,
They threw me away.

I Love You Not
I love you, I love you not was a game you played with me,
We kept on playing until all my petals were free,
You look at my body, on the ground I lay,
And you pick a newer flower and continue the game you play.
We kept on playing until all my petals were free,
You look at my body, on the ground I lay,
And you pick a newer flower and continue the game you play.

Betrayal of My Own Heart
Stick your knife into my back.
I deserve it don't I?
For I'd bear the world on my shoulders for you.
I'd walk through Heaven and Hell to find you, and split myself down to the bone.
I'd swim the oceans and walk through flames.
I love you.
But you.
You wouldn't bear the weight of a single grain of sand for me.
You would travel no where to find me; you wouldn't shed a few cells to save me. You wouldn't call my name let alone swim oceans and walk flames.
You claim to love me,
but darling, actions speak louder than words.
