Sobriety
It’s been so long
My mind relapses
Bringing up the memories
I feel trapped inside myself
Begging for the feeling
The simple joys are lost
All the adventures gone
I’m restless and in pain
I feel so numb and alone
Buried in nothingness
Drugs destroy your life
So I’ve been told
But it was needed escape
I lived my dreams happily
No cares or worries, just high
I quit because I was told to
Not because I wanted to
So now I sit realizing
Life can never compare
It will never live up to the high

I am me, just me
No strings attached
I am no one’s puppet
So don’t try to play me
Don’t preach your religion
I don’t want to hear it
Your God is a mute to me
You’re life choices are silent
I don’t care about brands
I wear who I am
Don’t judge my clothes
I don’t want style points
I’ll listen to my music
You listen to yours
Don’t broadcast it to me
I’m on another frequency
You live by your choices as do I
Don’t advertise your life to me
Because I’m not buying
I shop a private selection

Hello, My Name's John
Hello, my names John
Uh…I’ve been sober for quite a few months now and, well, I hate it
I can’t sleep, I’m not hungry, and life just seems so boring now
My parents want me to stay clean but I’m not sure I want to
It’s not like I was doing anything bad or even hurting anyone
All I did was smoke a plant, it’s all natural, comes straight from Earth
My grades in school were never better, I could actually tolerate people
If anything drugs made me a better person, a much happier person
But still I’m told that drugs are bad and that I should stay away
It just...

Dear Juliet,
I’m not afraid to love you
I will put myself on the stake
And testify to the world
I will take a thousand lashes
And bleed for a thousand days

I will swim all the oceans
And battle siren and kraken
I will climb the highest peak
And challenge Gods and Angels
I’m not afraid to love you
I will defy divinity and law
And journey Dante’s Hell
I will welcome Death’s grace
And live to be heard again
