Lost at St. Mary’s Gobion
That day I returned to the silent ones.
I watched St. Mary’s long fingered shadow
Extend no welcome to a curious soul.
Eternity, there marked by stone,
Held the chilled children of below
Who lurked in search of some release.
An uneasy blanket of grave intent,
Lay in wait upon the dying light.
The gathered forgotten in furtive form
Followed one still warm and whole,
Approaching with the gradual gloom
Growing large across this last place.
I came in hope of re-stirring feeling,

The Night Observer
Quiet feathers fluff up against the night.
Unprotected prey waits upon Fortune’s call.
A curious cat could end it here;
A final uneven fight.
Winter’s cruel forging of frost
Stiffens the limbs of the left and lost.
Behind their bricks the humans scarcely stir.
A dead umbellifer sentinel scores the mist,
A strident monument of last summer’s glory.
On the tangled trails of broken blackberry
A brown mouse turns and twists.
Slight wing rush, prequel to timely end,...
Quiet feathers fluff up against the night.
