I Wonder
I think of you, and I wonder;
When people ask, do you tell them we died? Or do you pretend we didn’t exist at all?
Can you still thumb through the pages of that old bloodstained bible?
Can you still read the story of Gideon? Or do you skip those verses?
Do you think of me every time you sit down at the table to pray?
Singing my name at church, seeing it plastered all over that holy book you hold so dear.
Surrounded by the life you’ve built on lies.
A daughter my age, a son his age.
How coincidental
Does your tongue betray you when you call for...

Ashes To Ashes
Cigarette ash falls like snow
Drifting slowly to the ground
My memories never fading
The acrid smell profound
But ashes are not snowflakes
Not in winter, not at all
But one after the other
They all have to join the fall
Ash won't make a sound
But you landed with a thud
Eyes filled with crystal tears
And pavement wet with blood
So I'll light two up tonight
One for me, and one for you
Because the nicotine isn't enough
And I fear I'm falling, too
Drifting slowly to the ground

Ink spilled into words
To put them to shame
But she went too far
Now there's no one to blame
Three different languages
Hard scribbles in vain
Line after line, time after time
Left without glory, only pain
The voices scream and shout
Begging to stop trying
But the moment she stops writing
Will be the moment she starts dying
Her eyes filled with dread
Lips with words left unsaid
Lines upon lines left unwed
The monster was finally dead
To put them to shame
But she went too far

I don't understand
Why'd you come back?
After you left me
My soul turned black
I cannot explain
How I have changed
My mind has crumbled
I've become deranged
My heart no longer flutters
When you come near
Your name is terribly painful
When it floats through my ear
Your hot, callused hands
I dread their rough touch
My shattered heart is held
In your fiery clutch
Your laugh like a scream
That echoes from the dead
Your slimy tongue slipping
Words that should have been said

It started off as smoke
Sadness in the air
But it thickened quickly
Soon, unable to bare
Photos of fun times
Old friends and new
Now used as kindling
But I never had a clue
Prescription medication
Copious amounts of alcohol
Only fueling the flames
Slowly inching up the wall
Memories catch fire
Burned down to a shred
Assisting the outbreak
Of orange & gold flames in my head
At the tips of my fingers

And this cycle's repeating

And my life is fleeting

Fake smiles every day
Fuck seeing the light
In the shadows, I'll stay
Never good enough
I was never fully sane

I put a bullet in my brain

A needle to kill the pain
A fag to exhale the lies
A blunt with nothing to gain
Poisons and toxins
Going straight to the brain
Hopes and dreams
Swirling down the drain
Lovely little toys

People come and go
But this high will always remain
