POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Can I Go Yet?
There's a snow covered mountain.
And surrounding the base of it, beautiful pine trees lining a crystal lake.
And on the side of the lake a table, a table that I approached.
At that table sat a beautiful white haired blue eyed woman, she had porcelain skin.
The whitest teeth...
The prettiest smile...
When she opened her mouth love and kindness enveloped my soul.
I asked her about the lake.
Are there big fish in there?
She smiled and said I can't tell you that, and giggled while saying it.
This woman was my grandmother, who I lost 15 years...

Across A Crowded Room
In the dream, your eyes were like fire.
The threshold I could not fight to stay on my side of.
I was exhausted and all out of war.
I remember your laughter, as you hung upside down on snow white clouds, and when I asked you what in the world you were doing, you explained you were just trying to see things from my perspective. To which we both laughed like little children.
I knew in my heart you were in for a real study.
Sorry for the complications.
It's easy to put a face to that laugh now, although in the dream I was paying more attention to your voice than...

The Now
In the moment
Finding beauty in everything that hurts.
Cause perpetual pain I will not let win.
I will not give the darkness satisfaction.
In the moment
As demons scream you are failing
I smile and softly Invision green grass and chasing fireflies as a child.
In the sticky dew of the evening, momma yelling for us to come and eat.
Saying grace before we do.
In the moment
A babies first cry, as their little swollen eyes blink softly to focus on this big new scary world.
A mother, assuring this beautiful gift it's...

Fight The Good Fight
Nah man ..she just keeps loving.
Put your snake oil down, she's not buying.
She follows the staff, the sword and her heart.
She's a grenade on the front line, be careful when you try to handle her, she can smell intent from a million miles away and will self destruct to save a brother and sister.
A mother bear should be so kind in comparison.
Death? What is death?
Running...away?
She prays to the one who holds the keys.
So why should she fear and take flight?
She will make you sick of her stance.
Her war paint written in faith upon...

Nature Is Nurture
On the river, birds singing, making their nests in the clefts of the rocks. Beavers sliding down mud walls to return to their underground burrows. The quiet of the water as my boat cuts through the flow ever so softly, gracefully almost.
I never knew the beauty that existed from the view of the sparrow, as it sings from the tops of its very own overgrown reeded island.
The water is clear today and so is my heart, as I lay back and let the current ease me on down the river.
The smell of hay fields and fresh earth was almost enough to make me cry.
(Okay, maybe I cried) ...

Journal Entry ( Little Girl/Crazy Hair) 1/2
1/2
I stopped journaling and writing all together for a bit. During the short break, I went looking for "the girl," you know, the one I let go of to meet the needs of a life that required my adult wife/mother version (which in itself is absolutely full of beautiful memories I will always cherish) Anyway, I volunteered at the stable I spent many a teenage years in, the smell of horses, the birds singing in the rafters as I carried buckets to empty and refill with fresh water. Literally I cried daily, the nostalgia of being back there, my heart was so full of gratitude for the...

Writers Write..Always
You crushed me, not knowing a thousand pieces were stronger than the put together I was trying to become.
Light still sparkles the same.
Love still loves as much as ever, and the dove still reminds me to remain a gentle warrior.

A Welcoming Change
I used to be horrible at setting boundaries, scared I would offend people. Then I realized, you can literally live a hermit life secluded from everything and everyone, and yet still offend folks just by being alive and breathing.
I'm not changing for anyone anymore.
I'm getting good at plumb lines, and my welcome mat is now only put out on special occasions.

Moved
She was sitting there in the passengers seat when the song came on, in her mind, she drifted off to a place she loved as a young girl. Dancing, white tennis shoes bouncing, blue jean skirt twirling, her soul moving her feet along to the beat on the radio.
And as the song ended, she opened her eyes and glanced over with a smile on her face, as he asked, what were you thinking about just now?
She responded with...oh, something funny someone said yesterday.
Luckily, he didn't require any more explanation.

They Are My Family, Eli
In the dream I was on a mountain, white boulders placed here and there, my whole family was with me. They were all terrified of the huge grizzly bear up in the distance. I laughed and started running towards him, calling his name. He looked up from grazing, his fuzzy ears perked, and he took off bouncing towards me. We met in the middle, my family screaming for me to run, as I hugged him and he nuzzled me in return.
He laid down on his back, with his belly exposed, I curled up beside his warm fur and fell asleep.
