A Lover's Lamenting
I'm going to miss
your recitals of old poetry
Watching your mouth form
around the heavier consonants
better than I could ever do
And how you sighed the vowels
in the late evenings
Your own words full of them
in your native tongue
Or, you made them up
during the passionate chaos
of orgasmic verbiage
I'm not a woman
but I learned, earnestly
when my ear was pressed to your cheek
As my mouth lent you my growl
upon your throat
How I reversed vampirism
and gave what I could ...

In My Mind the Years I Missed
In My Mind the Years I Missed
It was her very first day of school
I walked with her to school that day
And she held my hand all the way
We walked together quiet and sad
A little girl and her loving dad
Into the school, I led
But I almost cried when she said
“Daddy, Daddy, please don't go
Please don't leave me alone here
I'll miss you if you go”
And I might need you; can't you stay
My little Daughter, please don't cry
You'll be okay, so dry your eyes
You have me in your heart
We're together, though...

NO MORE BEGGING
I
tried to be coy...
then suggestive...
then a little bolder;
finally an open but
somewhat sharing
between us...me too far,
YOU guarded and
suggestive.
OCCASIONALLY
it seemed the barrier was
collapsing as a few more
indications that YOU
were all in.
MY
desire is still YES.
BUT NO MORE BEGGING.
Remove your mask and
meet me at the Kissing Place.
OKAY?

Cavernous echoes
Inside the chamber
Where dust gathers
Course infinity
Ethereal breath amaze
Comfort succumbs
Filthy hands
Dare to handle
Touch a soul
Death inside
Suffocated prison
Paranoia hinted walls
At the prospect
Closing in
An escape alone
Devoid of purpose
Hidden in truth
Moments recall
Universal secrets
Into the abyss
Graven gaze

depression makes me alter

Becoming quieter, I withdraw

It is with regret that I go
sinking into a black hole
silenced and alone

Delicate breezes
ruffle blonde sea-salted hair
cool wind on warm skin
You smile like the ocean
infinity exhales
Memories live here
made of sweet sunlit bubbles
and pure smiles
Let me take some photographs
pin down all these small moments
I want this to last
beyond sunset's warm goodbye
today's history
Eyes closed, I breathe everything
I cannot capture today

In Memoriam
Lying
on her back
with one leg
cocked up
knee pointed high,
she sucks
on the stem
of a flower
and turns it
in her hand
as she teases him,
saying,
"He loves me,
he loves me not."
And another petal
hits the ground
over her head
as she tosses it
over her shoulder
and looks down
at the blossom
she is plucking
them from.
In the distance,
limb by limb,
his heart hits
the floor
at the thought
that ever
her mouth would stoop
to speak ...
on her back

In a warm summer night

Why can I not find a Beautiful Synonym For Dying?
I HAVE to attend a Birthday celebration, today
initially I absolutely didn’t want to go
as I don’t do well in tight crowd-like spaces
I learned of my Friend’s cancer diagnoses
a month before her Daughter flew here to
Southern Arizona to take charge of
From previous experience, I KNOW
the cancer may not have been discovered
soon enough and me and her are really
not that close
I said OK to Linda’s (that’s her name)
close Friend and my neighbor ...
