So the water travels upward , yet it looks like water surges
at bottom , then travels upward yet only on one side of the
lightning strike...

Or is it only this strike it happens that way , or is it an illusion ?

Inquiring mind wants to know...

I have no idea, honestly. I was just fascinated with the image. Also, to me it looks like it hit the mast of a boat. There seems to be some type of structure under the strike zone?

Yet the water does seem to travel just up one side...

The strike only seems to be generating power on one side vs equal in conduction as well. This may be what is causing the water ( steam ).
