Which type of comps do you prefer to enter?

This poll's purpose is to determine through consensus which type of comp will attract the most participants.
Thus helping you decide which type of competition to run.

neither - I think all voters should be automatically listed at the end of the comp. So the question is not an either or
Neither, either
I enter comps based on inspiration and or challenge
I don't really care that much about placing, trophies or how my ink is judged -- let alone who is doing the judging
I also might enter what i think is a popular comp
because i know my ink will get a greater readership -- not just reads from my Followers

Unless it's a site-run comp such as Poem of the Month, I prefer the host taking responsibility of selecting a winner, most def. And, unless I'm mistaken, as it currently stands, participating voters are ALREADY listed after public vote comps; Webmiss recently announced it the Dispatch Box, and I've been seeing names of voters listed. So that seems a moot point.
I advise entrants constantly to not view these comps as comps, but challenges to expand from their boxes. Winning is a nice perk; however, the poll is not asking why you enter a comp. It's simply asking what you prefer: Anonymous public voting ( which means that you don't know who the voter voted for ( NOT that you don't know they voted ); or, the host/s selecting a winner, etc. In which case, how they voted is not anonymous.

So it's a poll for or against Anonymous Public Voting?
I'm thinking maybe we get more Voters if the judging is Anonymous (and not posted after the winners are announced) ??

I definitely prefer the competitions to be judged by the individual(s) who create them.

If you want more participants in your comp, then it might behoove you to run a comp that more participants are attracted to.

some judges of competitions, look at the technical merit, of entries, the look at the grammar and spelling, Some Judges concentrate on the emotional response they have to the poem, some do both and almost every reason inbetween I would suggest again that a public vote is preferable based on the popularity of the poem with a variety of Judges coming in from different perspectives. The moot point presently is anonymous voting as a policy right now is to list the voters, we don't need to know who they voted for just that the voted. This shows numbers and people and other people can be encouraged to vote, it also prevents people with multiple accounts voting more than once.
Attracting participants to competitions is pretty much like a lottery, I have seen really inspiring subjects get 4 entries and some mundane subjects get 20. If you are running a competition maybe you should think of something topical, something that people have strong opinions about. But Competitions are all equally valuable. If your competition just inspres one person to contribute their words to it then the competition has done its job.

So far, the results are:
7 - preferring comps be judged by some form of measuring stick
0 - preferring comp winners be decided by anonymous votes

0 - preferring comp winners be decided by anonymous votes
Why is it important for a Judge to be identified?
& now You avarice people want explanations for a Judges' choice????

Spraying my cloak of invisibility with glitter might cause me to vote, less.
(BTW, i still haven't voted one way or another)

It's not important for a judge to be identified ( by Johnny or me, anyway ). We have back up judges in the Classics who break our ties ( and we have had quite a few ). They wish to remain anonymous so we honor that. Judging can be akin to honest critiquing; some members want you to be honest, then bite your head off when you are. A few members who have experienced that bite no longer wish themselves exposed to such behaviour. And they won't be.
Anyway, the main purpose of this thread was to address the backlog of competitions in regards to public voting. We hoped those who continually hold competitions yet never pick winners might be able to gauge what type of comps the majority of members like to enter. It's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it! So get a few friends together that you trust to be honest and choose.
I mean, pick a damn winner, already.
