In honor of the Soul Man
I will post as my first entry
His favorite poem from my collection
Under Blue Black Midnight Sky
Meet me,
where the maundering wind cradles the rain, where dew
resembles gold dust
and emeralds that lie
beneath our feet.
Placid is the air as you cleanse
my mind with clear water
and pomegranate
suckling the juice of quince
off my brown skin
Together we watch stars fall
into our cup of milk
flavored with honey
and golden seeds
We rest, where stunning flowers
with bonnie faces dance, smile
while twirling in their red dresses
They shyly turn their heads
as we swim naked with lotus
in bloom
Sleep,
while I make a bed from the fluff
of peacocks feathers and the belly
of lambs wool
There we will spend eternity
under the blue black midnight
sky
Promising to
Never make a promise
never to let go

A most passive grin given freely from the little one who perches in the shadows atop spiney cactus.
Shy nibbles drinking in the sweet moisture he enjoys so much
Turning, with a nod and a wink
He gives thanks to Soul Man sitting peacefully before he skitters down the hill
