Billie
orchids frame the portals of her executioner's escape
though she's never seen the bitch in her true form
just dressed as a White Lady
her whorish twin pimped out in small doses
by the same men who own her and her melodies
she sings of Strange Fruit
dangling above magnolias in Georgia
and bluebonnets in Texas
nectar of the fruit
fall like sunflower seeds
blackened husks cracked open
and spit out
only the flesh is needed for consumption
so till the soil with more shit
as long as it all looks
pretty

- Christmas Rose -
As Christmas so fades into the mists of time,
For this year, I thought to capture in rhyme…
Some sort of sublime meaning: some depth.
But as the air chills and frosty is the breath,
I think of a certain Rose, and her fair beauty.
If all this world is a garden filled with dignity,
Her graceful hues are bright, and unfading…
And so as Christmas fades, thus anticipating:
The new-year to come, she is still so lovely!
Is it any wonder she moves my heart subtly?
With warmth in words, in heart, soul, mind…
And sweetness that never leaves me behind,
To ponder where her loving presence dwells.
She is with me in spirit as the wind so swells,
As the snow falls down, as all the ice forms…
Yet when I think of her, chill winter warms,
And I feel as though spring has come again.
The petals of flowers, carried on the wind…
Rather than the snowflakes and their shapes,
Which tumble to the ground and there waits:
The carpeting of pale design: which snow is.
Instead of that, I swear I see summer bliss…
Grassy meadows where butterflies may flit,
Where I might see my Rose and with her sit.
Time is nothing, when eternal are our souls…
And I feel immortal, when thinking of Rose,
Who brings me joy all throughout the year!
For, she is there, when bitter fall my tears…
And when I walk in my garden free of care,
I feel her presence, as if she was also there.
So when I thought to pen a Christmas poem,
My thoughts strayed far from this my home.
They flew to my Rose and finding my muse,
In her loveliness, I penned this simple truth:
For all in this poem is true, within my heart,
Where a fair Rose blooms, never to depart.

- Lily of the Field -
A Hymn of Praise to Lilith
Little Lily of the field,
For me, thy heart eternally doth yield.
Little Lily of the field,
Thy beauty, from mine eyes, I must shield.
The sun doth shine upon thy face,
Showering thee with heavenly grace.
Little lily of the field,
To thee, my heart eternal doth yield.
Oh maiden fair, God’s child born,
Thou dost shine alongside the Star of the Morn!
An angel thou art, in the form of flesh,
Thy grace is eternal, thy youth ever fresh.
God made thee not for man’s sake, alone,
For the Light Divine, in thy eyes, hath ever shone.
Sweet Lilith, Angel of the Light,
Goddess of the blessed Night!
Little Lily of the field,
For me, thy heart eternal doth yield.
Little Lily of the field,
Thy beauty, from mine eyes, I must shield.
The sun doth shine upon thy face,
Showering thee with heavenly grace.
Little Lily of the field,
To thee, my heart eternal doth yield.
From thy throne in the Under-earth,
A thousand children, thou hast given birth.
At each one’s rising, the owls do screech,
Reminding them of the power within their reach.
They reign as princes, at the Mother’s side,
In the shadowy kingdom, where she doth abide!
Sweet Lilith, Angel of the Light,
Goddess of the blessed Night!
Little Lily of the field,
For me, thy heart eternal doth yield.
Little Lily of the field,
They beauty, from mine eyes, I must shield.
The sun doth shine upon thy face,
Showering thee with heavenly grace.
Little Lily of the field,
To thee, my heart eternal must yield.
Thy arms art full of comfort and love,
Thy heart is noble, like a snowy white dove.
Thou art the first of all women made,
Thou art the Princess of the realm of shade.
Thou art the Mistress of all secret things,
Thou art the Queen, who reigns above kings.
Sweet Lilith, Angel of the Light,
Goddess of the blessed Night!

blow off their soft heads
dreams waft o'er green meadows
bouquets mirror death

daisies are my favorite
the thing about daisies
is that they are beautiful
and don’t even know it
they bloom, unheeded
along roadsides and in fields
without the help of green fingers
and proper maintenance
they thrive in rocky soil
and grow tall with thick
stems and deep roots
gold coin centers
call to me
beg me to make a chain
for my hair
or place their ivory petals behind
my ear so they might impart
wisdom not of this earth
into my racing mind
with unpretentious fingers
they weave themselves around
my heart
desperate to make me
believe

a deadly flower
so beautiful you stand
alone in the dark
silent just like angles trumpets
silent but deadly
thriving in the heat
while others perish
the unbelievable high
at the steepest price
to never truly remember
what happens with her
thats for those that are lucky
those who push her
never come back
truly a deadly

Dandelions
I was blue with wet cheeks
like the chrysanthemum beside the porch
sort of drooping
my face hiding as
the sunflowers in rain
and though he chirped like a bird and spoke of dragonflies
he inched closer like the caterpillar
to the rose
and the grasses died
while hedges turned brown and bare
he came closer and I felt uprooted
I stared at the bouquet
he carried
empathetic
Nothing bloomed again
but dandelions

Ode to the Calla Lily
tender-pale mouth
soft fairy bed
when I see you
I’m all wound
your long white throat
bared in supplication
silken curves of your spathe
enveloping a gentle secret
you curl and enfold
like a protective mother
liquid folds swathe your treasure
the spadix emerges proud and erect
even O’Keefe was haunted by you
you graced caskets at my work
suddenly you’d come into view
and the tears burnt my mouth
snow-white sentinel
petals spiraling into moist-white hearts
horns of ivory gramophones
singing a slow pianissimo
and like love you housed
a subtle latent poison
since you refused
to be owned completely
snow-white sentinel
hover over me with heaven’s canopy
I want you guarding forever
my silent doll's box

says a lot about us
if we like them
we'll go ahead and pick them
even if it kills them
birth, marriage, accolade, death
here, have some flowers
they're pretty
