Clarity of meaning -----35 points total
depth or potency of the piece------45 points total
structure and flow where applicable-----15 points total
Grammar---10 points total
compliance with rules of competition (non compliance results in disqualification)
there will be another judge on this with me to evaluate and calculate points

To become blooming flowers
amongst the river of red.
I entrench, as do the other flowers
and draw the nutrients we crave
through our bloody roots we siphon dismay.
We'll draw from the same riverbed
we'll bloom prettier still
and we'll die all the same.

I Want...
just a little patch
of sun to call my own
just a little shade
for me to rest on
no ugliness with hydra heads
no hurting people
with their aimless rant
no spitting venom of hate
to reach into a rose-tinted

AUTHOR NOTE: There we go, EXACTLY 50 words. I posted the pre-edited version already, if you want to see the longer version (it's not that long, just three stanzas, seven lines each. But that's approximately thrice the word limit, too.) Sorry for the delay in getting my post up.
