POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Born To Be
I was born to be a bastard,
And I prayed to be a saint,
I'll die to be a martyr,
Because I'm scared to be afraid.
I sang to hear a song,
And I talked to hear a voice,
I'll die to know I've been alive,
Because I decide I have no choice.
I lived at their beck and call all my life,
Now it's time to die at mine.
I lived to be a martyr
And I'll die to be a saint,
But these hands of yours
My blood will taint.
And I prayed to be a saint,
I'll die to be a martyr,
Because I'm scared to be afraid.
I sang to hear a song,
And I talked to hear a voice,
I'll die to know I've been alive,
Because I decide I have no choice.
I lived at their beck and call all my life,
Now it's time to die at mine.
I lived to be a martyr
And I'll die to be a saint,
But these hands of yours
My blood will taint.

Through Another's Eyes
Have you ever stopped to wonder if the sky seemed any bluer,
Or if happily ever after could be any truer,
If you were seeing through eyes other than the ones that you were?
Or have you ever asked yourself, "How am I gonna make today
Better than it ever was before I ever was this way,
Before I watched my life just fucking walk away?"
Yeah, I see how hard it is,
To keep on pushing through this part of this,
But if I don't who's gonna 'ppreciate this darkness?
My blue sky turned to red,
The darkness fills my head, ...
Or if happily ever after could be any truer,
If you were seeing through eyes other than the ones that you were?
Or have you ever asked yourself, "How am I gonna make today
Better than it ever was before I ever was this way,
Before I watched my life just fucking walk away?"

Mirror Worlds and Parallel Universes
When I looked in the mirror today,
I saw a man trapped there,
With an eternity of never behind him.
There he was, unable to leave,
Unable to do anything,
Until I did it first.
And so I left, and he followed;
But as he followed he disappeared.
In that moment I mourned for him.
I had been his one companion,
And he had been mine.
But beyond that mirror,
When we parted ways,
Could it be that he was mourning me?
I saw a man trapped there,
With an eternity of never behind him.
There he was, unable to leave,
Unable to do anything,
Until I did it first.
And so I left, and he followed;
But as he followed he disappeared.
In that moment I mourned for him.
I had been his one companion,
And he had been mine.
But beyond that mirror,
When we parted ways,
Could it be that he was mourning me?

Look Me In the Eye (Mirror Mirror pt. I)
The scars upon his face told chapters
Perfect eyes told bloodshot lies
But through them truth escaped its captor.
A twisted grin escaped his lips
And his heart would pound without a sound
Through a throat dried and crisp.
He was mortified but never let it show
Despite their offering, of his suffering
They could never be allowed to know.
Drips of diamond tears and drops of ruby blood
Compromise impurities and all his insecurities
Come to surface in the mud.
And I know now that I can't do this to him
He's only ever tried,...

For Shame (For Hope)
I never asked for this
I never wanted to become a monster
I never got through to you
I never asked for what I'm served.
The person that I am doesn't like this world
The person that I am doesn't like what it sees
But more than anything, more than everything
The person that I am doesn't like me.
I hold on to this, though, this neutral moment,
I am neither happy nor sad today
I am hopeful as I hold this cure,
And I drown in my hopeful shame.
A moment in silence is all it took
To remember everything, good and bad
It's all...
I never wanted to become a monster
I never got through to you
I never asked for what I'm served.
The person that I am doesn't like this world
The person that I am doesn't like what it sees
But more than anything, more than everything
The person that I am doesn't like me.

If A Promise Only Lasts Forever Then I f**king Swear To God (Dear Michaela vol. III)
If you are looking for someone
Who will make you feel weak,
Who will make you feel insecure,
Who will tear your heart out and eat it for dessert,
Then you're not looking for me.
I'm going to stand by your side,
I'm going to be there for you to cry on,
I'm going to let you use my arm as a pillow
Until it falls asleep with you.
If you are looking for someone
Who will hurt you,
Who will remind you of your faults,
Who will hold everything against you,
Then don't waste your time on me.
I'm going to hug the hell out of you,...
Who will make you feel weak,
Who will make you feel insecure,
Who will tear your heart out and eat it for dessert,
Then you're not looking for me.
I'm going to stand by your side,
I'm going to be there for you to cry on,
I'm going to let you use my arm as a pillow
Until it falls asleep with you.
If you are looking for someone
Who will hurt you,
Who will remind you of your faults,
Who will hold everything against you,
Then don't waste your time on me.

The Letter You'll Never Read (Dear Michaela, vol. II)
I can't believe we're standing here,
Or at least I am...
You're out there somewhere,
I just hope you can...
Read this once before you go,
Twice before you're sure,
Again because I loved you,
And over because we always knew what we fought for.
But you'll never read this,
Because you're already gone...
But somewhere in the atmosphere,
I smell you in the air so strong...
So I'll breathe,
I'll breathe again...
Only so I'll breathe,
So I'll breathe you in.
Read this once before you say goodbye,
Twice for...
Or at least I am...
You're out there somewhere,
I just hope you can...
Read this once before you go,
Twice before you're sure,
Again because I loved you,
And over because we always knew what we fought for.
But you'll never read this,

So I'll breathe you in.

Discrepancies (Born Better Than Me)
Chorus 1:
We all have our discrepancies
But this time you were born better than me
I'm a sinner, you're a saint, but it's all inside the name,
Your history books won't include me,
Just one of our discrepancies.
But when you fall I won't catch you,
Because that's the sinner you make me out to be
Inside I want you to owe me,
But how does that work when you don't even know me?!
Chorus 2:
You were born better than me:
Spoiled, perfect, all around worth it,
But not in my history,
That's another discrepancy,
You were just...
We all have our discrepancies
But this time you were born better than me
I'm a sinner, you're a saint, but it's all inside the name,
Your history books won't include me,
Just one of our discrepancies.
But when you fall I won't catch you,

Concrete Wings
She was born amongst the angels,
But born with concrete wings.
She'll never learn to fly,
But she's stuck on earth with me.
They always kept her down,
Too heavy for her to lift,
They always sat there, limp,
Too sturdy for us to clip.
I hate to see those crystal tears
Coming from those gemstone eyes,
I hate to hear that awful noise
Coming from her as she cries.
So I asked myself,
"How could this happen to her? Why her? Why me?"
So the thought occurred to me,
When angel dies, does she still get her wings?
But born with concrete wings.
She'll never learn to fly,
But she's stuck on earth with me.
They always kept her down,
Too heavy for her to lift,
They always sat there, limp,
Too sturdy for us to clip.
I hate to see those crystal tears

I hate to hear that awful noise

The Bitter Taste of a Familiar Poison
There's a bottle in my cabinet
That'll ease the pain tonight,
There's regret I'd like to forget,
That'll lose in this fight.
Tip it back, let it drip,
And cringe at the very first taste.
Tip it back, then it slips,
And drip turns into pour with haste.
It's barely palatable, and hardly edible,
But when you knock on the reaper's door, it'll do.
It's far from comfortable, and scarcely tolerable,
But the bottle says, "The pain will die with you."
Somehow some way, she knows what's happening inside,
And she dials 911;...

For Whom the Blood Drips
Pitter patter
Hearts that shatter
Drip emotion
Cause commotion
But nothing like I will.
The broken hearted
Won't be parted
From what they loved,
By God above,
I swear their hearts beat still.
It shan't be theirs
That breaks and tears
Their oppressor's done
Killing for fun
His heart will break in two,
His head shall roll,
And pay its toll,
His blood shall drip,
His throne shall slip,
All because he hurt you.
Hearts that shatter
Drip emotion
Cause commotion
But nothing like I will.
The broken hearted
Won't be parted
From what they loved,
By God above,
I swear their hearts beat still.
It shan't be theirs

At My Feet
Just stay,
Don't leave,
Don't die at my feet.
You weren't
Supposed
To come so close
To let
Me down.
Turn this around!
(Chorus):
Because on the other side
There is no such afterlife,
And broken spirits have no heaven
So you better put up a fight.
Just stay,
Don't leave,
Don't die at my feet.
It's not
Supposed
To end although
We let
It come
Close to undone.
(Chorus):
Because on the other side
There is no such afterlife,
And broken spirits have no heaven
So you better put up...
Don't leave,
Don't die at my feet.
You weren't
Supposed
To come so close
To let
Me down.
Turn this around!
(Chorus):
Because on the other side
There is no such afterlife,
