Berries and cherries bearing down, terror mounts
Sirens sing the jailbirds home

Whispers of passion litter the wind, melody released from rhythm

Hungry ghosts walking to both drums, a downbeat

The long climbing moan of this sphere
Cries of evolution equalized by the tone deaf
Squeaky wheels suggesting oil, gears grinding
Coil finding tune against fever pitch

I hear trumpets

I hear voices...

there are 27 of them whispering
That love is lost
Inside my mind
And his cage will not open
When ears ring
Listening to angry violent noises

bird sharing food with baby
before putting her to nest
listen to the destruction below
unhealthy tempers, heartbreaking
stories, heavy footsteps in rain
dogs barking at cats with no vest.

The sound of pen to paper
scribbling down each line
Sang a prelude to a silent end
to everything that was
yours and mine

The Long Walk Home

there’s no peace
in restless wandering;
the unforgiving wind
howls through my hollows
amplifying every falsehood-
its decibels are deafening
to my tender self-deceit;
silently, my shadow smirks

the city rattles
trampling feet
engines purr
drivers sigh
music drifts
ads whoring
johns buying
click clack
beep beep
tills ringing
workers wishing
camaras whirring
wealthy plotting
and me
laughing forever.

   connecting amplitudes

Shore-less seas drain
in a stillness vessel
in no lashing tides
or chuckling ripples
Soulflame
in gentler whispers
outweigh canvassing
mouth-‘organs’
Fingertip lids tighten
ear-neck vulnerabilities

Cosmos echoes within

    nocturnal vibes

shadowed nightfall beheld
gnawing frictional beep-waves
between its fibrillating
emissive black-nylons

keying pitchy crickets
croaky umpiring frogs
gecko stitch-pedals
in sticky kisses, mistaken
lip-service sympathizers

mind-honey coos in
overflowing moans

Slowly Sipped

Cocktails clink
each sip
a warm comfort
finches, catbirds, wind rolled gusts
added rustle from my curious dog
streams sing echoed among tall trees
lapping out...calling
intoxicating
salient Nature

Ovations from the young
Screaming for some attention
Distinction of no importance
Recognition a must
Station rules this haven
Prejudices abound
Dreamers of stupendous feats
Can’t find the starting line

Running feet upon
Linoleum floors break the rules and
Meet with angry stares and
Loud objections from sentinels
Who watch over and pass judgments
With strong, strokes of red ink

Excuse my ignorance, I should have thanked Miss Nikki for such a great competition.  Still, thank you, Emo 1, for your great submission.

A summer lullaby

My little fan hums in some key
just below Clair de Lune
and it's ribbon tuts in another
as the air plays with smoke
like children do with rope
sirens wail and fade away
a man coughs
a second too late
the captive fly sings alone
as a sallow cat licks his lips
all the while my little fan hums away
and I can't find the words.

(Not an entry, just a new home for an old poem)
