Contrast rainbows and shadows in an interesting way
Write something new (one entry per person please) contrasting rainbows, and shadows, doesn't have to make a whole lot of sense, just make sure you clearly show the contrast!

RAINBOWS AND SHADOWS

We endeavor to do good and it is misunderstood

Someone has cast a shadow over it

Twisted and turned the events

So that all the positive turned negative

Noah was the only righteous man

He followed God's orderly plan

After a long time before seeing dry land

God showed the rainbow in the cloud

Our lives are filled with shadows

Those cast by other people and things

Those cast by us because the sun shines

Having no shadow means you are ignored and discounted

We must have sunshine in order to live

We search the shadow so as to cool down

It is the balance between the two

That bring rainbows on

The rainbow symbolized God's promise to Noah

The earth will never again be destroyed by flood

The rainbow is a covenant of Grace

But we can still be destroyed by fire

Each person has both light and shadow

Each person has seen a rainbow

We must toil on being fools for the Lord

Doing good even when reviled.

Color From Depth
the sun rose so high
casting shadows
in its wake
greys and black
where coolness feels
pregnant clouds aligned
shedding bloated tears of rain
skies open clearing paths
a peek of sun
through colorful burst
archway to heaven
rainbows took birth

Darkness under the Rainbow

I Hated his rainbow
He said it set him free
Gave him strength he said
"It just let's me be me"

"Red is life
Like the blood in my vein"
Stop talking like that
His silhouette mirrored my shame

Orange brought healing
Yellow stolen sunlight
What's your count today?
"350, I'm alright"

The nature of Green
Drew us to bike in Central Park
Time slipped away from us
And the shadows began to hark

In a sea of Blue
He bathed in harmony
Only his dark reflection
Sang of his agony

Lilac and Violets whispered
of my Michael's spirit
Embracing all he touched
His only real sin in life
He loved everyone too much

"Leaving Shadows Behind Rainbows"

We spend lifetimes
looking
for the pot
of gold,
chasing
fleeting dreams,
prisms
of
brilliant
colored-lights
trapped
in arcs
to nowhere.
Leaving dark
colorless-shadows
behind,
we face the sun
in desperation,
wondering
about
self-worth
and forgetting
the journey
is the lesson,
not the
temporal-wealth,
we see.

Shadow Light

As the rainbow sets in
over rolling green hills
the purple heather haze
set aglow under it's bright array
of color
against the grey
reminding some lost sense
in me
that the rain must come
and again I see
Spectrum over darkness
with shadows beyond the lines
Sun kissing dancing prisms
the reflections light
a deceptive sky
holographed in time

Shadow of the Rain

Do you ever wonder why
the first rain of Spring
was so refreshing?
The birds chirping, awakening
the flowers from hibernation -
their sweet scent brings HOPE
of a new beginning...

After the rain comes a beautiful SHADOW -
painted brightly by the sun
in multi-colored arc...
The spectrum of light is so deceiving
and so does good LOOKS!
For what we see, is not what it seems.

Her rainbow tryes to fix the shadow over my soul
My souls so dark the rainbow doesn't even show
I see a glimpse of light
But it was soon to fade outa sight
His dark sould wants to be helped
The rainbow wraps around my soul
I start to think of the old me and say no more
Her rainbow starts to brighten my soul

Rainbows And Shadows

From the optics
of her trancendent mind
I pour myself
a sociable measure, and
savours the spirit
as it quenches the thirst
of my acquired taste
for pleasure.

In colourful hues,
transparent.
I feel warmth
radiate across.

Ice turns to water
I'm in a muddle.
turned to liquid
wet like a puddle.

But she and I will never mix:

I see colours
irridescent
like a rainbow.

Water and oil plainly show,
the mixing of some things
are just not meant to go.

So beyond fashion
nakedness reveals itself,
not fashionably
not unfashionably
just nakedly.

Beyond nakedness
a shadow
projects itself across
the curvature of form
and interacts.

It comes across
as a silhouette
that does not touch,
but would like to.

                           < gravity's rainbow >

                       no colors here
                       just a rainbow-curved line
                       of white rocket exhaust
                       drawn across a November sky
                       tracing the ballistic trajectory
of a German V2 rocket as it
                       crosses the English channel
and heads for London with its
                       2000 pound warhead traveling at
four times the speed of sound
                       arriving silently at the Woolworth's
                       department store in New Cross
                       which explodes with a blinding
                       flash and an enormous roar
followed by a dense cloud of
                       smoke and debris casting a
                       shadow over the body parts
of 168 shoppers who have queued
                       outside hoping to buy saucepans
                       made scarce by war rationing

                                 - - -

Nicely done everyone! This one's going to be hard! Keep em coming!

I Was That One in Ten thousand

I felt like part of a rainbow
a colorful streak in the light
as the music played
and we hippies danced
trying to keep the music
out of our eyes
Singing our hearts out
waving our arms

Grateful for everything
especially the band
a tie-dyed array
of strangely kind
folks swaying
to their own time

holding the shadows of reality
and the line crossed
after the show
at arms-length

taking time slow
We know you rider
and miss it all
once it's gone

and like rainbows we shine on
putting the shadows off again
til tomorrow

which never comes, if we can help it
a spliff, a hula hoop
and a homemade lollipop

Let it shine
let it rain
we're all rainbows
here today

With ever Rainbow

With every rainbow
there is a shadow.
Like with all good
there is an evil.
love and hate,
dark and light.
Shadows are the
dark side to the
beautiful and
pure raindow.
After every bad storm
of rain and shadows is
an bright and pretty
rainbow.
The rainbow lights
the way, as the shadow
darkens it.
The shadows want us
to be afraid,
but the rainbows
shout for us to
be okay.

"Rainbow Monolithic Refuge"

Beneath the quilted clouds of arc and light.
Shadowy tendrils that chase away its menacing might.

Resilient radiant colors of so many pages past.
Written upon the sonnets of hues and darkened cast.

The leaves of auburn winters and shadows dare to dance there.
As the unforeseeable chasing skylines of unattainable
colors through and through.  They forever
live on and Flair!
