Poetry Contest

An observational poem on the world, or something/someone who you see as strange or peculiar- something that affected you in someway.
I'm not looking for heartbreak, he/she affected me poems, I would love to see raw, angst, and inquisitive poems on rights/wrongs of the world or the way things work, just BE OBSERVATIONAL!

Really can't wait to see what comes out of this, there are some amazing poets already who handle more observational stuff!

2 entries per person- only rule, write however you want.

Good luck!

[b]Observations

And in essence there lays the trivial pursuit
of a drawn out waste of time in prolonging
that should be sandblasted right into oblivion
where it explodes with no visible side effects

Tit for tat melodies so off key and out of step
that shudder my spirit and pain my tired eyes
left me wanting to pour fire on the human race
as it burns the pessimistic thinking to black dust

Inflated egos that bleed in rivers of going nowhere
plummeting out of control in their combustible nature
Yin Yang both tangle with inflated selves non-digestible
choking the air from the living breathing planet as it dies

Observations of creations a mindless worthless pelt
taking innocence by the throat and squeezing it out
words that scream cannot be heard ears now deaf
I turn my back on a force that holds no life for me

Bilderberg's  inc.

For the love of a flag we stand to attention
raise our hand to salute then shoot
then march into certain death with honor.
there's no crime in the killing of children
or no harm in the odd rape here and there
one two three four we aint human any more

for the fear of god we cower in the temple
or turn one blind eye while closing the other
when the pope goose steps around Vatican city
hording its knowledge it gold and its stolen souls
blessed are those who see no evil, hear no evil

for the love of power they kill those who question
or have a heart and brain to take a stand
or share a dream of a new promised land
and have the imagination to break the mold
if its inherently good then its contagiously bad

for the love of money they raise the flags
and pull the strings of the hands that bless
they plot and plan against the great dreamers
we are just play things to their wicked games
pesky disposable sub-human's we deserve no brains

Holocaust

patriotic fools
live
as blind men
speaking
“honest” lies
recycling wars
within
their wrestling conscience
dwelling
in a suicidal dream

seeking
for a black sun
surrounded
with invisible flames
flooded
with ashes of forsaken souls
a battle
that ends in stalemate
nothing
but pure massacre survives

everything
is lost in their crippled hearts
nothing
can be done
suicidal homicide embodies the mind
creating a holocaust
within
time is the only cure

a cry for freedom
but no one
hears a sound
the heart
is shattered
it rest in pieces
amongst the earth

the rage swells
explodes
until an untimely
death
lays them to sleep
in their own
carnage

a n i m a l s

i was at the zoo today
to see the animals
with a bunch of kids
around twelve of them
more like a whole bus

they were not my own
not that I don't like kids
i love kids of course
but from a distance
cos' everything looks
greener better beautiful

they were a loud lot
those kids
hyperkinetic jubilant
walking running screaming giggling
they moved in and around
in circles unsure yet hardly affected
by their own state of being perpetually
lost inside the maze of cages

may be they liked
being lost

unfazed
they invented new games
which was conducive in the setting
proactive little bastards

the gloomy gibbons laughed at them
when they screamed and waved and jumped

when i tried to wave at the smelly apes
the male gibbon made a sound
that sounded like a lone wet fart

that said it all about
my day my life and me

listless i followed the thong
full of verve voice
a vortex of innocent energy
into which i got sapped
every now and then only to be ejected
a stillborn a dead body a swollen appendix

even the kids rejected me
just like the melancholic monkeys
and the solitary rhinos probably wounded
standing erect unmoving like installations
and the dull python coiled like a curse
that has lost its potency

an hour later amidst
onion rings chicken nuggets with preservatives
and meaningful laughter
the youngest of the group came to me
and asked me in her tiny glassy voice
if i needed a tissue

a couple of cranes started a violent war
swooping diving fluttering screaming

for the first time
the group was scared affected
the little girl stood
her eyes unmoving rheumy

the cranes kept at it
probably two males fighting over a she
large beaks talons
two metre wide wings around each other

that's right I thought
life would get to you in the end
smiling relishing the cold blasts of wind
from those wild flurry of wings
munching a crispy chicken breast
cold and dead and delicious

l o o p

In limbo
in transition
in pursuit

I talk
in self conscious mumble
my nerves jangle
everything a jumble

I see the signs
but they fade too soon
even before I could register
still I try

The world is gray
and drab
albeit intact

On rusted iron gates
plastic bags sway
as the strong breeze
carries the smog

The bleached sun is just a sham

honk and holler-

Armies of locomotives
convertibles
vehicles

with

the faceless
nameless

the jetsam due

A woman stares at me
smiling as her eyes mock
The gangrene having spread
far too deep
beyond the marrow

From the window I look outside-
beyond oily fingerprints
Someone watches the mountain
with vain fascination

or rather whatever is left
after years of
illegal dynamite blasts

Oblivious yet aware
I am Buddha and Shiva
both

I wander on the beach-
the dirty empty beach
deserted and desolate
and the majestic ocean-
angry and howling

'Am I here

till when

and why

and why me'

and what do I want'

Well where did I see
this one-

some question from
the AC-Nielson survey

or the biggest question
of the last fifty years

entrapped
endangered
enraged
encumbered

I just function
amongst the bipeds-

bright
bruised
brisk

crossing the streets
laughing at Jerry
disposing garbage

and they function too
to and fro
oscillating alright

Chocolate
stand-up comedy
sex
shopping-
sweet Jesus

In case you do chemicals
and have a farm house
then nothing beats

run away while
you can

writhe
wriggle
write your ticket

or else you can just

wake up
brush
rush

to be

In limbo
in transition
in pursuit
in the race

The sky always seemed golden
in the seconds before it was black...
Yet in a few moments,
my eyes would readjust to the darkness,
Luring me to gaze at thousands of different lights...
Although they were white,
They were made of Gold,
And after being in that darkness,
And seeing that clear light,
I succumbed to the twilight,
And lived each new day walking
in the shoes of a blind child...

Earth Age

Before the air takes your skin
and my lung's cage is coal
know that the grass
never grew around me
and it never flourished
beneath my stubborn foot.

When the soprano rides the last wind
over forgotten footprints nestled snugly
in the belly of valleys and
through the deep-rooted disposable trees
and the last cloud wets the ground -

you'll find not every end has a new;
we are nonrenewable.
When earth's hand hits its hour
we are the dispensable.

Prison Of Flesh

Locked away in a prison of flesh
He faces a life
If one could call it that
Of solitary confinement
He'll never know himself
He'll never know a friend
He'll never enjoy a freedom
It takes a chair to make him mobile
But no matter where he goes
He will never be able to pass through those intangible bars
The bars that keep him a prisoner in his cell
In his cells

Bonfire of the Tragedies

"Flipping through this comic book,
I remember how badly I wanted to be a superhero
I could have stopped him from beating my mom
and beating me.
Or at least been able to shrug it all off and say to him
'Hitting us doesn’t make you strong.'”

There was a long silence
Then he took a swig of his beer
and threw the comic book into the bonfire
I didn’t know what to say
I couldn’t relate
My dad was never around to hit me

Born In the USA

I was born in the USA.
Join the service as soon as I could, to protect this country from world terrorism.
Went over seas; living for days in the living sand.
Shit in a hole and ate from a can, because I was born in the USA.

Got ambushed and shell shocked, barely made it out.
I walked away with a concussion, don’t remember a damn thing
can barely stand but, hey no Purple Heart, just born in the USA.

Came home a broken soul to no hero’s welcome.
Got just months to get help from VA, but I was born in the USA.
Don't remember my Momma, or my wife, or that child in her arms that keeps calling me her Poppa. But, they tell me I was born in the USA.

Evils
See

They saw her when they walked by
Like they weren’t part of her world
They saw
All of them saw her standing there
Standing there near a cardboard box
They saw
Her stomach protruding
Eyes teary, dirty faced
They saw.
They saw this teenage girl
Who was put out,
because she was molested by a relative.
They saw!

Hear

They heard him
All the doctors with their psychology,
Physiology, etiology
Restraints and drugs
They heard him

They heard him
All the theology in their pulpits
Teaching hell and damnation
Splashing and drown
In holy water
Never showing God’s love
They heard him

They heard him
His parents using
All the doctors and theologians
Hoping they can cure
Their child of being gay
They heard him!

Speak
She sat watching television
Someone asking for help showing
A mother holding her child, both just skin and bones
She switched the station
A boy asking to be your forester child
She switched the station
A man asking you to give to the Food Bank
She switched the station
A woman asking you to house the homeless
She switched the station
“You can help…”
She turned it off going to bed
 “Ain’t shit on tonight.”

The king of absolutely fuckall

Each morning i wake, look out the window and take
A good look at my kingdom, what a wonderfull day
Knowing im the king of all i survey
I sit with a coffee and the hardest thing i must say
Is thinking of what i should do with my day
With a smile as wide as a cheshire cat
Feels like ive won the lottery or something like that
But then comes reality like a whacking great wall
not even a slippery slope, this is total freefall
Coming back to reality starts making me sad
Something is wrong, i think im going mad
Cos while im still in total freefall
I realise im the king of absolutely fuckall
I look out again and all i survey
Has never been mine in any way
Not even a Kingdom, a Castle or thrown
Not even a thing, im all on my own
While sipping my coffee i start wondering why,,
I done what i done then i start to cry
Everything and everyone i ever loved i drove away
Now none of them would even give me the time of day
Nearing the end of my coffee i think "well that's that"
The final few swigs i take a pill for this and a pill for that
Cant get through my day without taking a pill
And even then, the day is just one great big hill
Then at the end of the day more pills i take
Knowing i'll be a king again when i awake

Realisation

When the waves
and the winds calm down
the sea will never be
as it was.
