Poetry Contest Description
Loving single life? Why?
There are always romance and/or heartbreak comps going on, but I've never seen a comp about being single.
So I challenge you to write me a poem on the best thing/s about being single.
Rules: Any style, no more than 500 words.
Two poems per person
Nothing sexually explicit, though you may refer to sexual freedom in your work, I don't want to read erotica or porn!

Single...
It's coming home when you are good and ready
and finding your stuff the way you left it
Going out because it's Tuesday night
Never having to prove your'e right
Cranking the tunes at three a.m.
Having an open door for friends
Dancing with the the coolest singles available
Having laughter all around your table
It's listening to sad tales from married friends
Remembering why single is best...
It's paying your bills
and your own way in general
And that's why freedom reigns eternal
It's seeing someone sexy
and being a human
Without having to scream-
No ,I don't wanna do em!
It's saying yes
and going on a date
It's saying No
when you can't relate
It's being in love with the person inside
The one with whom you will always reside

i think miki's drop was a wrap. right from the door and i don't think anyone on the site could even come close to what she dropped on this topic. but, what do i know? I don't even really consider myself a poet.
but with that said; i would be interested on reading "your take" on the topic and perhaps a few others..

The single life
no reason for why
the sky can't cry
if the clouds pass you by .
no explanations
or implications
looking at who you are
no fabrications
the tune , the wave length
comes through
in your space
no blame
if it isn't there
no shame for any
others to wear
mind games
and all of the un-fair
one way to only
take your care
ashamed of face
just cannot stare
you can roll in
the cold
and show what's bare
no lies to be told
in times un-aware
just some of the things
being single

where someone else is
Or baby mama drama over
someone elses kids
Being single is like
soaring like an eagle
Supreme and regal
Moving at your own pace
Walking thru life...
Instead of joining the race
It looking at the menue..
and ordering too
and since I like variety
I'll take one of you..
and you...AND you!
Its having the freedom
to Get what I want
without infringing on
what someone else has got
Being Single
is being able to be free
for friends in need to come
over without thinking
there disturbing me
Being single leaves no
argument on whos wrong or right
and enables me to always sleep
in my bed at night.
This is certainly not my best..
but I'll have another go at it

Witnessed, psychosis narcissist
In the name of Love
Often blood red, seldom rose red
Witnessed, sanctimonious debauchee

Lust for skin, never intellectual affection
Entertained, when love ends in chaos
In the name of love
The love for God, the Crusade
The love for Helen, the Trojan War
Hermetic sanity,
Free from worry, overwhelming jealousy;
Sleepless night when you are not by me,
Anguishing thoughts, when you're out partying.
Anarchy peace,
Free from gender intellectual inequality, absurd theories;
Shell asymmetry, reflects wisdom,
Facile thoughts, who should do the cooking.
Effortlessly appreciates individuality, me

they really shoved their love in my face
the girl was pretty
not the type that would go for me
if there is an upside to being alone

Not at my ear saying sweet things that make me Ill
I'm able to flirt with whomever I wish
It Irks me
The thought of being under his control, his stalking eyes...
Haunting me even when we were apart
I was greatfull when he said we're through

Now, I'm back on my game
And ready to play!
