originally from Abyssinia
my kin was cultivated
to keep parishioners alert
spun sufis spread me
from Persia to Italy and on
the Dutch then dug me deep into a new world
with the aid of enslavement,
and to this day it boils me

definitly right line of thinking, but not cannabis- not war but the development certainly spawned some tensions...and yes- ethiopia is now that region once known as abyssinia
